The Ever-Changing Seasons of Life
Recently, our family has been making some significant changes. First, we just brought home the newest addition to our family, a baby girl named Belén. We have now maxed out our minivan with the seventh member of our family, and we are amazed at how quickly the years have gone by. She has been a pure delight and joy to us all. At two weeks old, she is already sleeping through the night – seven hours. As my doctor told me yesterday, "If she's going that long at night, this young, and is still putting on weight, consider it a God-send." That she is - a gift from God. He has definitely blessed me with one who is calm, mild, and is letting me get my sleep, which is very needed right now as I take on our newest change and adventure: Homeschooling our children.
This second major change is something we have been considering for the last two or so years, and we hadn't felt that calm reassurance that I should do it until about three weeks before the baby was born. We had come across a solution which we felt was the best decision and choice for our family and their education. We were both on the same page, and we both felt strongly that we should just do it.
It has been a couple of crazy weeks as we've tried to quickly get ready for the beginning of the school year and the arrival of the baby. The baby was born just a week before school was to start with the program we chose to go with. It has been a whirlwind of feeling not quite prepared and yet surprised at how smoothly it has been going as well. I think heaven has been pouring out blessings on this tired, once-again-new mom as she embarks on this adventure.
Within the first two weeks of school, I have been amazed at what I am learning about myself. As others have found out about our choice to teach our children at school, it's been interesting to see how I've reacted and felt to the various attitudes, beliefs, and advice I've been given by anyone and everyone who finds out. I've learned a lot about what I'm comfortable and uncomfortable with, what really bugs me, and where I feel completely vulnerable.
I am excited about the adventure, the things we will learn together as a family, the experiences we'll have, and the growth we'll experience in so many ways. As fall brings the change of seasons, I am ready to embark on the changes within my family as well.

I am in love with the JIFFY Albums. They are easy pages with all the benefits. I can quickly create a fast album by plopping in my pictures, and yet I can quickly move things around, add other embellishments, or delete anything I want. The ability to customize it how I want without all the work of building it by hand has been wonderful. Right now, I love using the JIFFY Easy Page Albums: 12x12 ABC Fun 1 album to record our learning moments at home as we embark on this new adventure.

What Are Word Art Templates?
Note: Tutorial created using Adobe Photoshop CS5 on Mac OS X
Do you ever find yourself staring at your layout, thinking it needs something to add that finishing touch? You know it doesn't need any more embellishments or photos, but something seems to be missing.
Word art templates to the rescue! The Scrap Girls Boutique has some great ScrapSimple Word Art Templates just waiting to solve your dilemma. Versatility is what I love most about templates. You choose the color scheme, papers, textures, and styles to complement your project. In most cases, you can even mix and match the elements from different word art templates, allowing you to create an endless variety of word art. Some even have editable text, so you can add your own journaling and choose your own font.
For this tutorial, I will be using my ScrapSimple Word Art Templates: Editable Text. First, I opened up a paper, then opened up the word art template and dragged it to the layer above the paper.
Next, I selected the first line of text and typed in the words. Remember, with editable text, you can type in whatever you wish! Continue typing your chosen phrase until you have filled in each line.
Finally, change the color of the text in your text menu at the top of your screen. You can also change the size of the text.
It's as easy as that! Now you can continue building your layout using the template as a focal point or an accent - it's up to you!

To enter the Message Board Posting Challenge, you MUST reply in the game thread with your CURRENT post count. This is the number under your Avatar that shows when you post. (NOTE: Do not post the number found on your profile; it is a different number that is calculated differently.) During the month, chat your fingers off! At Midnight on September 30th, we will calculate your post count based on the numbers posted in the original thread.
