"Spring is one of my favorite times of year. Just when I think I can't stand another moment of the cold, winter weather, I see crocuses popping up and hear the robins begin to chirp. I feel a surge of energy, excitement and anticipation for the warmth and sunshine that accompanies this time of year. That was the motivation behind creating this collection. But, it has become one of my personal favorites because I am able to use it year round. The colors are muted and work nicely with many different photo treatments. It's my 'go to' collection for cards and gifts. I even used it to scrap our daughter's wedding photos." 1. What are your favorite pizza toppings? Usually, just extra cheese and mushrooms. I do have another favorite, though. There is a place around here that has a specialty pizza called "Chicken Caliente." It has grilled chicken, hot sauce, melted blue cheese, chopped tomato and mozzarella cheese... yummy! Now, I'm hungry! 2. What's the last book you read? I'm in the middle of Water For Elephants. I just finished several books by Janet Evanovich. She writes mysteries and her heroine is a bounty hunter. They are light, funny and easy reading. I actually laugh out loud while reading her books. Best of all, I found out about them on the Scrap Girls Message Board! |

Scattering Embellishments
Note: Tutorial created using Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 5 with Windows 7
One of my favorite techniques for creating visual interest and movement in a scrapbook page is to use scatterings. Pre-made scatterings are available in the Scrap Girls Boutique, but what if you want to create your own arrangement, using your stash of Scrap Girls supplies? You could painstakingly resize, rotate, and arrange each item in your scattering - or you can do it the quick-and-easy way by using ScrapSimple Tools - Scripts: Jumble 6301.
For those of you who are not familiar with scripts, a script is a mini-program that performs automated actions in Photoshop. (Please note that ScrapSimple Tools - Scripts: Jumble 6301 will only work in Photoshop 7 and up. It will not work in Photoshop Elements.)
So, let's get started! First, install the script. Refer to PDF included in the product download to correctly install the script.
Next, open a new document and place the embellishment that you want to scatter. I chose a leaf from Keys to Happiness Collection Biggie.
To run the script, go to File> Scripts and choose SNU_SSTools_Scripts_Jumble6301. The dialogue box below with the default settings should appear next. Feel free to experiment with your own settings.
My settings for this tutorial are as follows:
Angle Modification: 90 degrees (this means my element will be randomly rotated anywhere between 0 to 90 degrees)
How Many Copies: 15 (this sets how many copies of my element will be created)
Size Modification: 50% (this means my element will be randomly resized ranging from 0-50% smaller or 0-50% bigger than its original size)
When you are done with the settings, press "OK" to continue.
When the script has finished running, every copied element will be in its own layer and in a group called "Jumble." The original copy of your element can be found in a group folder named "Originals." This group's visibility is turned off and is located at the bottom of the Layers Palette.
You may find some of your elements located outside the edges of your document or you may wish to resize or reposition all or some of the layers. To reposition and resize the entire group, just select the group named "Jumble," grab the transformation handles while holding down the Shift key and drag to the desired size and position. To modify an individual layer, simply highlight the item layer, and use the transformation handles similarly.
Finally, make sure the "Auto Select Box" is checked and Group or Layer is selected accordingly.
That's all there is to it! You can also use this script to scatter alphas, photos, and multiple embellishments. You can pick up more ideas by reading the accompanying PDF file included in the product download.

East Coast High Noon Crop
Wednesday, June 29th - 10:00AM MT
Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 10am MT for the East Coast High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week. On June 29th, we'll do a Stars Challenge! Create a layout using at least one star. It can be embellishments like brads, buttons, and stitching, brushes, or even a layout template. There are so many possibilities - have fun with it! Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!
Speed Scrap Crop & Chat

June Message Board Game: Re-JUNE-venate!
We helped you jumpstart your January and now it's time to re-JUNE-venate your focus on scrapbooking! Join us on the Forum this month for "Re-JUNE-venate!" This is a Meassage Board game and challenge that focuses on taking time to scrapbook regularly despite the little speedbumps of life. When the month is over, you'll have several completed layouts and will have been challenged and treated to some fun along the way... with prize opportunities thrown in as well!
A member of the Welcoming Committee will post a mini-challenge or task each day Monday through Saturday from June 1st - 30th. The tasks will be formatted in LARGE PURPLE FONT for ease of locating them in the game thread as it grows. Some tasks will require Message Board participation, email responses or gallery posting. Read each daily task carefully to see what is required of you.
Those who complete all tasks and submit or post required participation will be entered in a drawing to win one of three $10 Gift Certificates to the Scrap Girls Boutique! Those who complete just the layouts will be entered in a drawing to win one of two $5 Gift Certificates.
