**Before you begin the tutorial load the Branded Style Set included in the Branded Wood Kit.
Step 1: Open ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates: Fancy Recipe Cards – Card # 2 or:
SG_July19-RecipeCard-FreeTemp-SNU.psd from your Freebie folder or:
Create a new document that is 6” wide x 4” tall with a white background at 300ppi.
Step 2: Make a duplicate copy PS: Image > New, PSE: File > Duplicate. And close the original template.
Step 3: Open SNU_BrandedWood_Papers-6.jpg (or a different wood paper texture).
Step 4: Rotate the Wood paper by going to the Menu Bar, choose PS: Layer > Image > Image Rotation > 90 degrees Counter Clockwise. PSE: Image > Rotate > 90 degrees Left.
Step 5: Rotate the Wood paper again by going to the Menu Bar, choose PS: Layer > Image > Image Rotation > Flip Canvas Horizontal. PSE: Image > Rotate > Flip Horizontal.
Step 6: Click on the paper and drag over above the background layer of your template or document.
Step 7: With your Recipe card template activated, click on the Visibility icon (the little eye icon) in the layers panel to turn off the following layers:
- Accent
- Recipe text layer
- Line
- Ingredients
- Directions
- Matte
Step 8: Activate the Frame layer Layers panel, in the Menu bar choose Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation (or use the shortcut Ctrl U or Cmd U on a Mac). In the dialog box move the Lightness slider all the way to the left until the frame is black. Click OK.
Step 9: In the Menu Bar, choose Window > Styles to access the Styles panel. PSE: under the Layers panel (bottom right side of your workspace), click on the Styles icon to open up the Styles panel.
Step 10: Click on SNU_SStyles_BrandedWood-27 in the Styles panel.
Step 11: Open the SG_July19-RecipeCard-FreeTemp-SNU.psd from your Freebie folder.
Step 12: Activate the Recipe layer in the Layer panel.
Step 13: Click and drag over to your newly created recipe card. Center on the card.
Step 14: Click on SNU_SStyles_BrandedWood-27 in the Styles panel.
Step 15: Press Ctrl J or Cmd J on a Mac to duplicate the layer. Lower the Opacity to 70% or until you are happy with the results.
You can now turn back on the layers you want to use by clicking on the Visibility icon next to each layer in the Layers panel. (I only turned back on the Ingredients and Directions layers)
Step 16: Save your layered recipe card. File > Save As.
Step 17: Add your recipe and print out or email to friends and family!
