Showcase Your Word of the Year!

Showcase your word of the year intro banner

Do you choose a Word of the Year? The One Word Resolution movement is based on the idea of focusing on a single word that embodies the changes you want to make during the year, instead of making a long list of New Year’s resolutions. (Truthfully, I’ve never made it past the “choosing a word” part, but I did find a lot of blog posts out there with tips to help you find a meaningful word!) This tutorial will show some simple ways to showcase your Word of the Year on a beautiful page or sign that will help you stay focused all year long.

This first example was definitely the easiest. I used a stacked paper from the Hortense Collection Biggie, typed my word, and chose a pretty font (or two).

The next two pages went together almost as quickly as the first one. I used a background paper, a few simple embellishments, and typed the word using a fun font.

If you want to make a more involved page, try using some ScrapSimple Templates. The page below uses a template from Angie Briggs’s ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Capturing Life as the base and is decorated with her So Amazing Collection.

This last page uses a template from Syndee Nuckles’s ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: One Word for the base. These are designed with editable text, so it’s really easy to customize. I used My Summer Love Collection by Sekada Designs to dress it up and added a definition in the journaling space.

Try creating a page that showcases your Word of the Year. You can print it to use in your planner, frame it, or even use it as a desktop background. The more you see your word, the easier it is to focus on it all year!
