Is cozying up with a flannel-plaid blanket and a favorite old book your idea of a delightful evening? Then we know you will love the plaid delights included in this month’s
ScrapSimple Club: Warm & Cozy from Melissa Renfro. Her
“warm and cozy” theme will inspire your fall layouts with plaids or gentle florals, while her fun word art will accent your pictures and journaling with a chunky-cursive flair.

Fun Fact: Melissa lives in the desert of New Mexico where the “flannel-wearing season” is only about six weeks. “I love flannel plaid shirts, but I love the warm climate I live in now so much more. I grew up with snow and mountains, but I prefer the desert. So, I don’t really have much opportunity for plaid shirts or cute winter boots! I’ll just keep my flip-flops and give myself an outlet for plaids through the scrapbook papers I design!”

Spotlight on Plaid: Melissa wanted this club to convey that comfortable, familiar feeling that comes with the fall season. She said,
“I wanted to have an easy way to make plaid papers, and then the rest kind of followed that warm and cozy idea.” However, knowing how scrapbookers love to stretch their goodies, she said she
“included a lot of basics that can be used in any season with any colors.” The plaids can be colored to match whatever season or event you want to pair them with, whether it’s the colors of falling leaves and acorns or spring flowers and pastel hues.

Melissa’s Tip on Combining Templates: Melissa will be the first to tell you that “tweaking” her templates is not only a possibility, but something she highly recommends! “I love how templates, such as layered paper templates like my plaids and florals, can be used with ALL their layers or you can use just A FEW of those layers to mix-and-mingle your design and create truly unique coordinating papers.”
