What is a day in the life of Amanda like?
I admit, I laughed out loud when I first read this question because I think “hectic” sums it up pretty well! I usually wake up at 5:30 or so and like to spend a few minutes reading, drinking coffee, and writing notes in my planner for the day to come. After that, working from home and having three kids, well, you can imagine all the madness that ensues shortly after.
What’s your favorite and least favorite thing to design?
I love designing papers, and that is where all my collections begin. It works best for me because it helps me finalize my color palette. Papers help me decide if the colors I had in mind are really working together or if I need to tweak my original plan.
My least favorite thing to design would be Word Art. Sometimes I have a hard time coming up with things I think are “generic” enough that would work well for a lot of people scrapping different things.
Where does your inspiration come from?
Lots of places. Home decor and music are actually two really big ones for me. A line in a song may spark a memory or a great visual and inspire me to create something.
What’s on your desk right now?
Pens (oh, so many pens!), my Wonder Woman post-its, nail polish remover, ink samples for the insane said amount of pens, a water bottle, calculator, and a few random bills pushed to the side that need to be sorted.
What’s your favorite part of the day?
Anytime I can get a few minutes of quiet (which is few and far between). Since my days are generally non-stop, go-go-go, the few minutes of winding down reading and trying to quiet my brain are generally my favorite.
What cheesy song do you have memorized?
I don’t know if it’s “cheesy” (of course, my kids might think it is), but Lisa Loeb’s “Stay (I missed you)” came on the radio recently, and I surprised myself by still knowing every word to that song!
