About a year and a half ago, I started noticing chalkboards EVERYWHERE! I was looking at a lot of home decorating blogs and began to see chalkboard labels for jars and people making chalkboard accents for their homes.
Around the same time, we were removing a wall in our home to put in a pantry. I had this crazy idea that I wanted sliding pantry doors - kind of like the barn doors you see everywhere, only I didn’t want to spend $600 on the hardware. On these fancy barn doors, I wanted to have a chalkboard section for the kids to draw and make notes on. I thought it would be fun to do some fancy artwork for parties, maybe menus, or lists. It was actually more fun than I ever imagined! The kids love to draw on the chalkboard, and many times when we have guests over, they leave notes for us on our chalkboard.
So when I started thinking of some ideas for the ScrapSimple Club for July, I knew I wanted to do something with chalk and chalkboards. One of the things I realized is that it is super hard to draw all of the fancy typography that you see online on a real chalkboard, but with a chalkboard style, you can turn any fancy font into a chalkboard masterpiece. Also, with the ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Chalkboards, you can have chalkboards in any color or style without all the mess.

I have yet to actually attempt the chalkboard dresser, but I find that all things chalkboard are inspiring to me!
