Our newest ScrapSimple Club comes from designer Laura Louie, who admits that while her inspiration originated with Valentine’s Day, she worked to make that concept more “broad-reaching and inclusive of other parts of our lives.” Laura says that her Connections Collection is about the bonds that keep us connected to all the things that are most important to us.
“I picture this club working very well for any layout project you can imagine! I tried to keep the patterns in the papers and the embellishments very neutral. It was important to me that our customers not be locked into using the products just for layouts about love (although that would look great, too). I hope these products will be used for anything and everything! From travel to cooking to school – I’ve designed these products to run the gamut of limitless use!”

Behind the Scenes Tidbits:
What the club theme means to her: This club is all about staying connected, in both a technological and emotional way. It connects the dots between us and the people, places, and things we love!
What inspired her as she designed: Although the inspiration for this kit came from Valentine’s Day, I wanted to make that concept of love more broad-reaching and inclusive of other parts of our lives. It’s about the bonds that keep us connected to all the things that are most important to us.
The product she thinks will be the most versatile: I think the flower templates are incredibly versatile and can be recolored endlessly to match any kit you are working with! I included a folded overlay layer with each flower, but you don’t need to use it. You could give your flowers a flattened paper look, or you could use gradients to really kick their dimension up a notch! You could overlay patterns onto them or use textures to create interesting solid-colored creations. They could be used with styles to give them inked edges or maybe even a glass treatment! I think the possibilities for those are limitless!
