The Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner is great for making digital scans of all kinds of 2-D and 3-D objects. I want to show you how I used it for scanning heirlooms to share with my family and add to my digital scrapbooking layouts.
For our family, summer means travel time! We live pretty far away from our extended families, so we like to visit with relatives and have family reunions in the summer. This year when I visit my family, I’ll be taking my Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner along so I can document some of the heirlooms and photo albums that have been passed along to other family members.
I’ve actually thought ahead this year, and I am scanning some of the beautiful family heirlooms I’ve inherited so I can share the digital images with the rest of my family. Yesterday, I used my Flip-Pal to scan this cross-stitched sampler my mother embroidered when she was a young girl.
I tried scanning it through the glass, but found the image was clearer when I took the needlework out of its frame. Because the original cross-stitch is fairly large I scanned it in sections and then used the Flip-Pal software to “stitch” the parts together. I’m really excited with how clear and crisp the image turned out and how easy it was to stitch the scanned sections together. I know my family will enjoy both the digital image of my mother’s sampler and the digital scrapbook page I created featuring it.
Our family keeps growing, so we can’t all have the original heirlooms. I’m so happy I’ve found an easy way to share these special treasures with my family by scanning heirlooms. If you’ll be visiting your family this summer, try taking a Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner along so you can capture images of your family’s favorite heirlooms and treasures.
