I knew that for Ava’s first birthday party I wanted to make tons of cute decorations. So I started to look on Pinterest and found lots of inspiration, I love owls so that was the theme I wanted to go with. Then I looked thru my digital scrapbooking supplies and came up with a plan. I loved Brandy Murry’s color palette from her SS club in March of this year.
Digital scrapbooking supplies used:
ScrapSimple Card Templates: 4×6 Remember Postcards
ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates: Hoot
ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Bitty Pattern
So I had my colors and my theme…now to get rolling. First the invitation, to save a little money on postage I decided to go with a postcard style card. I got some recommendations from some SG friends and had them printed at Zazzle.com, they were fantastic quality and didn’t break the bank to print. I used a card template, some papers & SS Embellishment templates and came up with this card.
Next I thought about what kind of decorations I wanted to include. I love those cute little custom labeled water bottles, what’s a party without pennant banners, treat bags, etc… You see where this is going!
Water Bottle Labels
Depending on the size of the water bottle just measure the label that is already on it and then cut strips of scrapbooking paper to cover them. I then decided on a good size for the label itself, which for me was 2”x 2” inches. I created a cute little label in my 2×2 and then flattened it and duplicated it and fit as many as possible on a 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper. I printed them out and cut with decorative scissors.
Then I just used some scrapbook adhesive squares to tape them over the strip of paper on the bottles and Voila custom water bottles!
I used a pennant banner template and put a cute owl in the middle and cut them with scalloped scissors and taped fishing line to the back for a banner. Now on the day of the party it POURED so I didn’t get a chance to get a photo of the actual banner.
I also made treat bag tags & labels for all the food that I made. All using those same
scrapbook supplies. The food labels I printed on cardstock and cut out and mounted to a colorful popsicle stick and then used a piece of sculpey clay to stand them up in.
We made fresh kettle corn for all the kids and adults too, I wanted a custom treat topper so I sized an owl head on a rectangle of paper and printed 4 on a sheet of paper. Then cut around the rectangle and used an xacto knife to cut the ears and top of the head out and folded down the back and used a stapler to fasten then to the top of the popcorn filled treat bags!

Here are some photos of the tables all decorated before we had to try to scramble and pick everything up . I had a ton of fun and went a bit over the top but that’s what we scrappy Mom’s do right???
Thanks so much for sharing this with us Shannon!
