Each month we get a glimpse behind the scenes of our Scrap Girls Club designers, and this month’s designer is Angie Briggs!
When you started working on your club, what was the first thing you did?
When I first start working on a club, and almost any kit, I always start in the same order:
Color
Name
Floral Paper
This time though things didn’t work like normal. I actually started with the papers. I worked on colors and narrowing them down while I worked on my bird paper. After I got that done, then I came up with the name.
What inspired the colors in your club?
I was inspired by Fall, but went with the softer side of Fall.
Where did you find the inspiration for this club?
This club was a hard one for me. I think I got stage fright because I knew I was following Brandy Murry’s awesome club. Another issue I had is knowing that alot of times, unknowingly Brandy and I tend to lean towards some of the same ideas and such for embellishments.
With Fall being my favorite season I started there for inspiration, drawing from the colors of the leaves. As I went through the design stage though, it turned into less of a Fall themed club, and more of a kitschy, rustic theme.
And since I shared with your the music I listened to designing my last club, I wanted to share with you the playlist I listened to over and over to on Spotify this time.
For this club I slipped back to the 70’s, with Danny’s Song and Sara Smiles being two of my favorites.

The club includes several products. Did you start and complete each one before moving on to the next?
Yes, my work flow usually goes something like: Papers first (I will do all of them at the beginning, then decided how to break them up into the separate kits) Embellishments then the alpha/word art.
What was your favorite thing to design?
With this club I actually have 2. I love the embellishment mini. This set includes both the png and psd version of the clusters. Breaking it down into individual files gives you the freedom to place each layer around your photo as you’d like. You can also use some of the layers as clipping mask.
I also really like the word art mini. I think there’s some fun quotes in this set that would be perfect for any type of layout from your “day to day” layout to art journaling layouts.
If you could pick only one word to describe your club, what would that word be?
I’m going to use “Thrift Store” with some of the kitschy embellishments and rustic feel.
About how long did it take you to design this club?
I literally played for a month with the 1 bird paper. Changing design, technique, colors, etc. Once though I got it where I liked it and sat down and really started designing it took about 2 1/2 – 3 weeks.
How did you come up with the name of your club?
As I was looking for inspiration for the word art I saw the quote “Yours Truly” and it just hit me that was going to be the name.
I hope you enjoy this month’s club. Like I do with all my products I really tried to make it as versatile as I could so it would work for just about everyone and you could find something to use in it for any layout you are creating.
I can’t wait to see the layouts in the gallery.
Thanks Angie for a glimpse into your design process!
