Easy Way to Colorize Black Embellishments in Photoshop Elements and Photoshop
Insert the black embellishments into your layout. In this instance, I have used the ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates: Curvy Stitches 2 Biggie.
Change the Brightness and Contrast of the embellishment so that it becomes white.
Select the embellishment (which is now white) with the Magic Wand.
Now you will colorize the embellishments using the Hue/Saturation command. To access from Photoshop Elements, go to Adjust> Adjust Color> Adjust Hue/Saturation. To access in Photoshop, go to Image> Adjustments> Hue/Saturation. Make sure that the "Colorize" option is checked. Then experiment with the Lightness, Saturation, and Hue setting until you find a color that you like. Click on the "OK" button to complete the action.
Add shadowing to make your embellishment pop off of the page.
