Choosing a word for the year has been around for a while now. The first time I was introduced to the concept was through Ali Edwards’ blog. She was teaching a class called ‘One Little Word’. Which encourages you to choose a word to focus on and ‘live with’ for the year in leu of setting up New Year’s resolutions. I thought this was a brilliant concept since I have never been any good at creating and following through with New Year’s resolutions. I always felt as if I was setting myself up for failure whenever I made a list of resolutions; that and the fact that my priorities change at a very rapid pace. So a resolution I set at the end of one year wouldn’t end up being a priority a few months later. So the idea of choosing ONE word for the whole year that would inspire me and give me something to focus on was and still is very appealing to me. I admit that this past year was so crazy that I completely forgot to choose a word for the year, maybe it should have been ‘FORGETFUL’! LOL I am still working on my word for 2014, it may very well be a few weeks into 2014 before I choose it or it chooses me. But since I will be living with it for a year I want to choose something special and meaningful.
So what’s YOUR word for the year? Is this something you have done in the past or will you give it a try for the first time in 2014? I came across a site One Word 365 that seems to be uniting many who have adopted the word for the year concept – maybe you will find it helpful and inspiring!
