With both of my kids' grandmas having their birthday in August, I needed to come up with a creative gift idea. A friend of mine gave me some old AOL tins that she didn't have a purpose for, and so I used that as a springboard.
Since my kids enjoy drawing so much I thought it would be fun if they drew their own little stationery sets. The problem was finding cards that could fit in the tiny square shaped AOL tins. Then I remembered the envelopes I had created for Scrap Girls that are in the Card Set: 3.5×2 Home Life. They would fit perfect. I printed out one sheet of envelopes on cardstock, cut them out and used them as a pattern. I traced envelopes onto all sorts of different patterned papers, including old Dr. Seuss book pages.

The girls made 3.5 x 2 inch cards with colored illustrations. They also painted the AOL tins to personalize them with their grandmas' names and their own illustration.
The result was very pretty. We also added a little handmade birdy brooch as a cute finishing touch.

This is fabulous, Mandy!
Oh awesome gift idea! I think I will try this w/dd. She loves to draw now and I think paint will completely blow her little mind
