There are a lot of television shows these days about staging a house to sell. Well, we could be filming one at our house right now! It is amazing how a little creative design really helps show off a house. We found a new house that we would like to move into, so we have a contract on it with a contingency on the sale of our current home. This means that we have to sell our house now, and fairly quickly. The Realtor we chose to help us with this process came with a surprise. His wife is an expert at home staging and preparing a home for sale.
Last week she came to see our house and the progress we had made de-cluttering, painting, fixing, packing up junk, etc. She gave us an objective look at where we were in the process. With her years of experience and perfect sense of design, it was fun to see what she could do with our stuff. I had mostly kept the furniture and pictures the same as they had been since the day we moved in. It was a breath of fresh air to be able to look at our home in a new way. It kind of makes me look at things with new eyes, knowing that there is more than one way to look at things.
I know that we will be taking some of her ideas with us when we move into the new house, and now that day should be drawing near as we are getting closer and closer to actually putting our house on the market. It has been kind of crazy working around our five kids, but we are hoping it will all be worth it when we can finally sell this house.
