When Ginny Whitcomb and Angie Briggs began to collaborate on this month’s ScrapSimple Club, they wanted to design a club that would work with just about any kind of layout! Angie explains,
“We found that the color scheme you choose will be what determines the ‘feel’ of the finished layout. If you choose a more pastel/vintage color scheme, then these templates will adapt easily to a vintage style. Or if you choose a vibrant color palette, you’re going to really get that fun pop of color that will lend a very contemporary look to your final layout!”

Fun Fact: This is the second ScrapSimple Club that Ginny and Angie worked on together. Angie said,
“It was fun going in a different direction with this one. When Ginny contacted me and was looking for ideas, her tutorial had just been released about how she creates her own embellishments through painting. I loved the flower she showed in the tutorial, and I told her I wished we had more of that style of patterns/floral items in our Scrap Girls store. We just kind of went with that as a starting point and it evolved from there!”

Where Did the Name Come From: We love to know the behind-the-scenes details from our designers, so Angie shared how she and Ginny came up with the club name:
“We knew we wanted to use the term ‘modern’ because that’s how we had been describing the elements we put in there. Then, as the pieces were coming together, we could see how they could be used in modern layouts, but you could also turn them into vintage, shabby chic, etc. The term ‘Touch of Modern’ just seemed to be a perfect fit!”

Tutorial 2: Using SS Embellishment Templates: Freestyle
Angie created these templates with the idea of being able to use them in both a graphic layout or combined with the clean patterns of the paper templates to create some interest to your layout. In this tutorial, she gives you a few different ideas on ways to use them.
Angie shared a little bit more about the process of working on this club:
“The papers were great to work with because it was fun to do the larger patterns. The embellishment templates are a wonderful addition because they are so versatile and you can create almost any type of layout with them. This was the first time that Ginny had created large clipping masks and she did an amazing job with them. They are full size, so you can use them in a big way on papers or shrink them down to make photo masks.”
