I like super quick and easy projects when a holiday is fast approaching; and I want to make a few special treats for a few special people. That’s exactly what you will find in this little Owl Pillow Treat Box project – quick and easy!
Digital scrapbooking products used:
Inspiring digital scrapbooking kit
Flea Market digital scrapbooking kit
Keys to Happiness digital scrapbooking kit
Craft supplies needed:
White cardstock for printing your Scrap Girls paper
Scraps of black (eyes) and orange (beak) cardstock
Scissors
Bone folder or Stylus
Glue or tape runner
Distress ink and sponge
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1 – Start with the white cardstock and print out the pillow box pattern provided on the PDF found above.
Next, pick out a few of your favorite coordinating ScrapGirls papers. You will want a variety for the body and wings, chest/belly and eyes. I resized my 12×12 inch Scrap Girls paper to fit 8.5 x 11 inches in Photoshop. On the backside of the cardstock that has the PDF pattern, you will want to print the Scrap Girls paper that you have chosen for the body. Make sure you check “borderless printing” option on your printer. On additional cardstock you will print the coordinating paper of choice.
Step 2 – Following the solid black lines cut out the pillow boxes. You do not need to cut inside the lines because they will not show when assembled.
Step 3 – Use a bone folder or stylus, score along the dash lines and fold on these scored lines toward the white or “inside” of your treat box.
Step 4 – Glue the side flap to the back of the pillow box and work the curved score lines where they fold in forming a curved top and bottom.
Step 5 – Using the distress ink and sponge, just ink the top front of the owl to make it stand out as “head and ears”.
Step 6 – With a 2.5 inch scallop oval punch, cut one oval from the body pattern (wings) and one from the coordinating cardstock (belly). The body patterned cardstock oval will be cut in half for the wings. I inked the edges of all these pieces and glued the wings on either side of the belly. (Refer to finished photo for placement).
Step 7 – Cut 2 different size circles in coordinating papers for the eyes and one small black circle cut in half for the pupil. Cut an orange triangle for the beak.
Step 8 – Ink all the edges – I just think inking makes things look more finished.
Step 9 – Layer your eyes and pupil – off set. Place them (but don’t glue yet) where you think you want them. Dab glue on the beak and slip that under where you want your eyes, then glue your eyes down. (Refer to finished photo for suggested placement.)
Now comes the fun part! Fill your little treat boxes with candies and pass out to your favorite little goblins!
If you give this project a try, please be sure to post it to Scrap Girls Hybrid Layout Gallery so we can see your creation!
And as always . . . Enjoy the Process!!
