This Thanksgiving I want to give each guest a special memento of our day spent together. I thought it would be nice to do something with the meaning of their name, convey how special they are, give them an opportunity to reflect on what the day meant to them and provide a photo of our time together that they can take away with them. I decided to make a place card that would accomplish all of these ideas.
Digital scrapbooking products used:
ScrapSimple Craft Templates: Mini Tag Album
Basil & Co. Papers
Pocket Life: Classic Mini Kit
Pocket Life: Blessings of the Heart
Touch of Spice digital kit
Step 1 – I decided the size should be around 2.5 inches wide and 4 inches tall. I also knew I wanted to have it be like a tri-fold, so I opened a new document in PS with the measurements of 7.5 inches in width (2.5 x 3), and 4 inches tall putting vertical guidelines at 2.5 inches and 5 inches, giving me the three sections I wanted.
Step 2 – Next, I dragged in one of the base templates from Amanda’s ScrapSimple Craft Templates: Mini Tag Album resizing and copying it to fit my desired outcome.
Step 3 – The next step was to clip my paper to the template. Now the fun begins – embellishing! On the front I used a beautiful Alpha and typed the guest name. On the center front tag I typed in the origin and meaning of that name, and the last front panel has just a sentiment that I liked. This was then transferred to an 8.5 x 11 inch print sheet. I also clipped a complimentary color to an 8.5 x 11 to print as the back-side of the tag trio.
Step 4 – Using Pocket Life cards from 2 great collections, I sized them to fit on the back of my tags listing “5 Things I Love About You” on one, making a slip-in photo mat on the center back, and a blank card for the guest to reflect what the day’s event meant to them.
Step 5 – The last steps are printing, cutting, folding (accordion style) and embellishing with whatever you have on hand – so easy, and yet a very meaningful guest gift. My granddaughter has a “smash” book for this year, so has been collecting little memories along the way. I am hoping this will be a treasured memento that she will love adding to her 2013 year of memories.
If you give this project a try, please be sure to post it to Scrap Girls Hybrid Layout Gallery so we can see your creation!
And as always . . . Enjoy the Process!!
