Convention Plans

Kerryblog

Today I am remembering last years Scrap Girls Convention . Here is a snapshot of some of the gals at my table on one of the days. What a fun, interesting, intelligent, warm-hearted group of women! After the convention, one became a Scrap Girls Layout Artist, one had a baby, and another one is using her scrapping skills to document the mission trips she organizes as part of her work. We all had so much fun getting to know each other and learning more about digital scrapbooking!

Months before the convention, I had purchased a laptop computer that also came in handy in the summer (I went to the library to design on Saturdays in the summers). At home I would design on my desktop computer. This year, I decided my old desktop computer which labored sloooooowwwwwly to open and close documents and to run filters, needed replacing. So I bought a new one, and gave our children yard work projects to "earn" the hand-me-down desktop computer.

Last Saturday I was designing and complaining to my husband, "I don't know why I paid all that money for a new computer. This one seems to be as slow as the old one." He said, "Why don't you return it? You could use your laptop for all your designing, and then you for sure have the money to go to the Convention." I scrambled to find my receipt, and sure enough, Saturday was the last day they would accept the return. So I returned it. Hey, times are lean, we have to prioritize our spending, and Convention is high on my priority list!

I'm ready to buy my tickets! Scrap Girls Convention 2009, here I come!

P.S. The Scrap Girls Convention is a wonderful gift to yourself. When I returned home last year, not only was I happy, refreshed and renewed, but DH and the children had a new appreciation for me and the difference I make in their lives.
