When you started working on your club, what was the first thing you did?
I designed the paper patterns. It seems I am always starting with that because it is the base of any collection. I was in a modern &
clean mood and was inspired by a lot of fun stationery I have been stalking on Pinterest. I usually bounce back and forth between
Classic Scrapbooks Design, Blended and Modern. While the classic is probably what I am known for, the modern is a secret passion.
I think it is that way in my house as well… classic traditional mixed with modern clean lines.
What inspired the colors in your club?
Since it is ScrapSimple, the colors could be anything. I decided to go with the first color palette in my color stash. (yes i have a
whole folder full of those!) So really..it was random.
Where did you find the inspiration for this club?
As stated above. I have been seeing really modern sophisticated and fun stationery on Pinterest and I loved the modern patterns tucked
here and there. I always really try to think about who will use this and how. So, I sort of approached this project from a designer
perspective, it just came out that way.

The club includes several products. Did you start and complete each one before moving on to the next?
Funny thing..I had several things designed, but when it came time to put them together, they just wouldn’t play nice. So there was a
lot of back and forth and fix and tweak going on with this set. The original idea was origami and bold patterns…sounded great in
theory but everything I did was fighting against any photos. While it’s fun to do photoless layouts, let’s face it…90% of the time
we are scrapping photos. I am sure I will try and revisit this idea, I still like it.
What was your favorite thing to design?
I enjoyed the layout templates. These drew me away from the stationery feel of the pieces and pulled the set straight back to the
scrapbooking perspective. Otherwise, you would have had a lot of stationery samples instead of layouts!
If you could pick only one word to describe your club, what would that word be?
Oh that’s easy – modern!
About how long did it take you to design this club?
This one took longer than normal because of all of the reworks. It took me a couple of months, but not continuously.
How did you come up with the name of your club?
I kept thinking today and modern. So I went with Modern Day.
