Behind the Scenes
Club Name Inspiration: As always with the December club, I want a title that is not Christmas, but is Winter. I always want a beautiful word that expresses the feeling of what I’m going for, and my daughter and I were talking about this collection being an interlude between the tons of snow and the almost-no-snow for her. I thought about it, and suddenly found it: Interlude = Winterlude … that’s so pretty! And that’s how Winterlude was born.
Product She Thinks You Will Love: I think people are going to LOVE the Blended Papers. They turned out so beautiful and unique. I love that there are unique patterns from the page kit so that your collection is stretched even more. These papers make beautiful backgrounds or paper pieces in templates. They’re both bold and subtle at the same time.
Design Process: As always, I did my artwork on my iPad in an app called Procreate – best $12 I ever spent! With endless brushes available for whatever creative medium I want to explore, I never run out of ‘tools’ to use! This time, I played with some new brushes — kind of painterly, but with a pretty smooth edge so that I was able to make cool stickers with some of the illustrations. I love how the artwork turned out!
Funny Story: I was really frustrated with how long those birds took, because of the details. I almost gave up and threw them away – three times! But they turned out to be my favorite elements of all the things that I illustrated for the collection.
