Printable Valentine Lollipop Holders Tutorial

Over the last few years, I’ve started to make my girls’ Valentine cards for their classmates instead of buying them. The girls would get upset when someone else had the same cards as they did. So not only will they have unique cards, but ones they can be proud of. This year, their Valentine cards will have a treat attached!

These printable Valentine lollipop holders are so easy and fun to make! Let’s get started!

Digital scrapbooking supplies used:
ScrapSimple Craft Templates: Lollipop Holders

Supplies:
Printer
cardstock
scissors
lollipops
Optional: ink, glitter, sparkle

Step 1 – First thing I did was open up  the ScrapSimple Craft Templates: Lollipop Holders Butterfly template in my scrapbooking software (Photoshop CS 5). I found a paper with some texture and color gradient from my digital scrapbooking supply stash. I clipped that paper to the butterfly shape  using a clipping mask Opt+Ctrl+G (Mac) Ctrl+G (Win).

Step 2 – I saved the file as a jpeg and printed it out. I repeated the same steps with the flower template, using reds and pinks for the flower. Then I thought about the boys! I don’t think they would appreciate the flowers and butterflies! Included in the ScrapSimple Craft Templates: Lollipop Holders is the cutest little rocket template!  I opened that in my software and started to clip blue and red papers to the layers in the template using a clipping mask Opt+Ctrl+G (Mac) Ctrl+G (Win).

Step 3 – Once my templates were all set, I printed them out on cardstock and cut them out!

Step 4 – After cutting the shapes out, I cut a little slit in the paper for the lollipop stick to go through. The templates have them included, so I knew right where to cut!

Now for the fun part! Embellishing! I added some glitter to the butterfly. Then I inked the edges of the flowers and curled them under a little bit. For the rocket, I added some flames I cut out with my Silhouette SD Cutter. I added some Tootsie Roll Pops to the shapes! The girls loved them! But then we realized there were two shapes for the girls and only one for the boys! That’s when we decided to add a football shape from my Silhouette library. I just printed out some brown paper from my digital scrapbooking stash and used the Silhouette to cut it out. I made some slices in it for the lollipop stick and voila! A football shaped Valentine for the boys. What could be better for all the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens fans in the classes?

If you are looking for a fun Valentine’s Day project for your little valentines or for a whole class, this project is super easy and fun! And sure to be one of a kind! I’d love to see what you create! Feel free to post your projects in the Scrap Girls Hybrid Gallery.

Have fun!
