Make Your Scrapping Truly Effortless!

Make Your Scrapping Truly Effortless - tutorial bannerI don’t think there has ever been a Scrap Girls Club more perfectly named than this month’s Scrap Girls Club: Effortless by Angie Briggs! The pieces practically scrap themselves because they work together so nicely. She has included some terrific embellishments that led themselves to effortless scrapping and also look great on a layout. In this tutorial I’ll highlight two.

My favorite embellishment is the View Master slide. This is such a fun way to add a bunch of photos without making the layout too busy or overwhelming. For my layout I used several of the funny photos I got while I was trying to snap a cute photo of my son the other day.

A view-finder embellishment from the Effortless collectionThe View Master embellishment comes as a mask. Adding pictures to it can be done in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Place the View-Master embellishment and the mask on your layout.

Then, resize and position them. The mask layer should be right below the embellishment layer. Click on the little Eye icon in the Layers palette to make the View Master embellishment invisible.

Step 2: Open as many pictures as you want to add to the View-Master.

I reused a few pictures, but I cropped them slightly differently. Because they are so small, no one will ever notice. Reduce the size of the pictures so that they are slightly larger than the rectangles on the mask. Move and rotate them so that one picture covers each rectangle.

Step 3: Use a Clipping Mask (Ctrl G) to clip each photo to the mask.

Step 4: Click on the Eye icon again to make the View-Master visible.

Step 5: Add a drop shadow and you are done!

Other embellishment that are great for effortless scrapping are the Frames in the kit. They all have beautiful word art included, and all you have to do is clip a photo to the mask layer to make them look fantastic. But some of the frames also have a text box layer so you can add your own journaling. This is a cool way to personalize a beautiful product even farther! I had previously posted this picture with a caption on Facebook, so it really was effortless to copy that caption and add it to the text box on the frame.
