Using ScrapSimple Paper Templates to Create Clipping Masks in Photoshop or PSE
Note: Tutorial shown with screenshots from PSCS3, but will work in most versions of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
This digital scrapbooking tutorial uses the "All Over Floral" template from ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Beach House, but any PNG format template will work.
Open a new paper in PSE or Photoshop, 12x12, 300 dpi, transparent. Fill that layer with the color of your choice.
Open the "All Over Floral" template from ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Beach House.
Drag it onto your solid background.
Create a new layer on top of the template by clicking on Layer> New> Layer as shown above.
Fill the new layer with a contrasting color.
Now press Ctrl+G (or Cmd+G for Mac Users or Cmd+Alt+G for PSCS2 users) to create a clipping mask. The top layer will conform to the shape of the template.
Remember, for the clipping mask to work, the template must be in PNG format.
You are finished!
