About four years ago, my husband lost his job as a professor at the university where we live in Missouri. Since that time, he has worked a handful of temporary and contract jobs, interspersed with periods of unemployment.
My times of greatest indecision come when I am consumed with what an audience may think of my choices. It is during these moments that I begin to poll various people in my life to ask them what they think. Because the choices are not theirs to make, their opinions are often unhelpful, particularly since my unconscious self doesn't really want their input. It wants them to either silence my unpleasant facts that I do not want to see or to confirm that my gut is telling me the truth.
Here are some of the latest highlights from recent posts on the Scrap Girls blog...
Adjustments layers are great because they leave your photo in its original state and apply the effects to a separate layer. You can always delete an adjustment layer and your photo remains untouched! There are adjustment layers for Exposure, Color Balance, Hue and Saturation, Vibrance, and many more. Today, I am going to show you how you can convert a color photo into a black-and-white using the Black and White Adjustment Layer.
Ro shares one of her cartoons! Check it out!
"You'll always be my baby."
Muse: To be absorbed in one's thoughts; engage in meditation. Not intended to solve the world's problems, another person's problems, or to cover topics completely. One does not have to agree with musings to enjoy them, just as one does not have to be the same as someone else to appreciate who they are.
Would you like to earn a $20 Gift Certificate? Send your own muse to [email protected]. If it is selected for publication in the Scrap Girls newsletter, you'll get to have fun shopping!

One of the questions I get asked many time by customers who are just starting to do digital scrapbooking is, "How can I grow my stash of scrapbooking supplies, but not break my budget?" The first thing I always ask is, "Have you checked out our Value Pack section?"
When scrapbooking older photos, it can be difficult to find an embellishment with the year that you want to use. I dearly love the fonts that Amanda Fraijo-Tobin used in her Brush Set: Mixed Years 2011-2020 Biggie so I decided to make it work for me by using a little selection magic.
One of the many fun aspects of digital scrapbooking is adding embellishments to your layouts. It's up to you and your style or feelings at the time as to whether you use just a few embellishments or a large number of them. You may find yourself wanting to layer some embellishments over others. It's easy to do! You can do it with as few or as many embellishments as you would like.
Does your family do anything fun together that is scrap-worthy? As the memory-keepers of our families, we sometimes forget to scrap the events in our lives that weave the fabric of our family.
Today we will be learning about how to sketch a portrait using Photoshop Elements 10 and the Action Pack: Ultimate Artist. Before we begin sketching, we need to get our photo ready by cropping and adjusting the lighting to get the best result.

March's Message Board Game: Simple Steps to Super Scrapping
This month's Scrap Girls Forum game, Simple Steps to Super Scrapping, is designed to help you get more scrapbook pages done with a series of simple steps that add up to a finished page at the end of each week.
Throughout March, Monday through Saturday, a team member will post a daily layout step in the Simple Steps to Super Scrapping game thread; the first week has 9 steps, and the remaining three weeks have 6 steps each. These steps will be posted in large purple font so they will be easy to spot.
Members who complete the steps required in the game thread and post all 4 layouts in the Simple Steps to Super Scrapping Gallery will be entered in a drawing for one of two $15.00 Scrap Girls Boutique Gift Certificates.
Each completed layout posted in the Simple Steps to Super Scrapping Gallery, up to 4 per member, will be entered in a drawing for one of three $5.00 Scrap Girls Boutique Gift Certificates.
You have until 11:59pm MDT on March 31, 2012 to complete the steps and post your layouts to the Simple Steps to Super Scrapping Gallery.
For complete details, visit the Monthly Message Board Games folder on the Scrap Girls Forum.
