How To Start A Layout Fast
Article written using Adobe Photoshop CS5 with Windows 7
I'm going to surprise you all today and show you an easy way to get a page started without a template. I started this two-page spread using Doris Castle's Hodge Podge Frame Embellishments. Doris has already grouped the frames into clusters, so I arranged two different clusters on each of my two pages and filled in with the coordinating single frame from her product.
That takes care of the major structure of my spread - easy peasy! The next thing I did was use the Marquee Tool on a new layer to create a horizontal strip and used that as a clipping mask (Ctrl+G for Photoshop Elements; Ctrl+Alt+G for Photoshop) for a paper. I kept adding strips and squares until the background looked sufficiently "done."
If you have a couple extra photos you really want to include, just tuck them in behind the frame cluster as I've done on the layout below.
Make sure to show us your creations using frame clusters in the Scrap Girls Gallery! Here is a list of just a few of the many products in the Boutique that fit the bill:

The tasks will be formatted in a LARGE PURPLE FONT for ease of locating them in the game thread as it grows. Some tasks will require message board participation, email responses or gallery posting. Read each daily task carefully to see what is required of you.
Those who complete all the required tasks and submit or post required participation by 11:59 pm (ET) January 31st will be entered in a drawing to win one of three $10 Gift Certificates to the Scrap Girls Boutique! Those who complete all the layouts will be entered in a drawing to win one of two $5 gift certificates.
