Back in November, Scrap Girls put out a call for applications to our new Hybrid Creative Team. We had many wonderful entries which made it extremely hard to choose who would be on the team! If you have been following our blog, you have already seen several of the team's fantastic tutorials. With this team's help, we want to show you how easy it is to combined your digital scrapbooking products with traditional craft supplies. There's a whole world of hybrid crafting opportunities just waiting to be discovered!
Today, I would like to introduce this amazing group of ladies. I have asked them a series of four questions so you can get to know them a little bit better.
Meet Bobbi Start
1. What scrapping item (including hybrid) describes you best (Example: paper, specific type of embellishment, brush, etc.) and why?
Paper! No, it's stamps! No, it's inks! Okay, all three! Printed paper, card stock in every color, big papers to cover books and digital paper... gotta have them all! Stamps - my favorite company is Magenta; I love, love, love their designs. Inks - so many colors and kinds for different projects and looks. Wait a minute, is this a trick question? Am I being screened for a SA (Scrapbookers Anonymous) group? I guess I would qualify!
2. What is your favorite crafting/scrapping tool?
There are so many tools that I use constantly, but the one thing I couldn't scrap without is adhesives. Different kinds for different projects. My tape gun gets the most use followed by the Xyron® machines and red line tape.
3. When does creativity strike - in the morning or are you a night owl?
I am a morning person. I get up around 3 a.m., grab some coffee, and hit my scrapbook area. I love those early morning hours when most of the world is asleep, and I can lose myself in creating something.
4. If you were a color, what would it be and why?
Color! I love colors. But I have always been drawn to ones that have more black in them, such as earth tones. Distress is my style, and as I browse the Scrap Girls Boutique, I am instantly drawn to items in the earth tones. I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone and am currently working on a springtime project using lighter colors. It's tough... I may have to do this in baby steps.
Meet Carla Shute
1. What scrapping item describes you best and why?
A template - I have things in a set place, but don't mind shaking it up once in a while.
2. What is your favorite crafting/scrapping tool?
Right now, it's my Silhouette SD (a digital cutting machine).
3. When does creativity strike - in the morning or are you a night owl?
When the house is quiet... usually during the day when I'm home alone!
4. If you were a color, what would it be and why?
Green - It reminds me of nature, plus it's my favorite color!
Meet Jerrie Hall
1. What scrapping item describes you best and why?
My Moleskine® art journal. It has all these wonderful blank pages just waiting to be filled up with ideas, and I have all these ideas that are just waiting to be put in it!
2. What is your favorite crafting/scrapping tool?
I love watercolor pencils.
3. When does creativity strike - in the morning or are you a night owl?
Definitely a night owl!
4. If you were a color, what would it be and why?
I'm a blue/green girl. It was always the first crayon in the box to be used up when I was a kid.
Meet Karen Webb
1. What scrapping item describes you best and why?
Paper - digital paper, old book paper, big sheets of handmade paper, two-sided paper, blingy paper. I have a studio and external hard drive full of paper, and it is an inspiration for my projects.
2. What is your favorite crafting/scrapping tool?
Definitely my stamps. Love all of the creative options I have when using them.
3. When does creativity strike - in the morning or are you a night owl?
Anytime I carve out to get started. Once I get going, everything else disappears.
4. If you were a color, what would it be and why?
If you could see the walls in my house, you would understand how hard this question is to answer. I love color, but I am drawn to earth tones and pops of coral and turquoise, which remind me of the sky, the mountains, and the ocean. Nature makes me happy.
Meet Lei Maier
1. What scrapping item describes you best and why?
I think I would liken myself to a journal block or word art. Words seem to capture my emotion more than anything, and sometimes when I start writing, I feel that words just flow straight from my heart and onto the page.
2. What is your favorite crafting/scrapping tool?
Distress ink is one of my very favorite "tools." I love the vintage/antique look, and the use of distress ink can give that worn-aged look to any project.
3. When does creativity strike - in the morning or are you a night owl?
I am an early bird, a really early bird. My creativity is in top form often before 4:30 a.m.
4. If you were a color, what would it be and why?
Blue! I love all shades of blue, but most particularly I love that certain azure shade of blue of the autumn sky in Michigan - sapphire.
Meet Lori Aragon
1. What scrapping item describes you best and why?
Paper trimmer/distress... my artistic style tends to be cute with fairly clean lines, but I can also be a little rough around the edges.
2. What is your favorite crafting/scrapping tool?
Definitely Copic® Markers, followed by my computer/printer... can't be without 'em!
3. When does creativity strike - in the morning or are you a night owl?
I am a night owl by nature, so mornings are off limits!
4. If you were a color, what would it be and why?
I am a pink girl who fought and won!
Meet Lori Blair
1. What scrapping item describes you best and why?
Paper and my bone-folder. Taking a blank piece of paper and engineering a little creation - that's an adventure!
2. What is your favorite crafting/scrapping tool?
I'd be lost without my computer/2 printers, Cricut® with Make-the-Cut™ software - and my trusty X-acto® knife!
3. When does creativity strike - in the morning or are you a night owl?
Saturday mornings are best for me. My work is pretty consuming during the week. But I need that early morning on Saturdays to relax and get creative!
4. If you were a color, what would it be and why?
Purple - that's my Grandma's favorite color, too.
Meet Sherry Davis
1. What scrapping item describes you best and why?
A butterfly because they have such a special meaning to me.
2. What is your favorite crafting/scrapping tool?
I am such a vintage girl that I am going to have to say my distress inks and my distress tool.
3. When does creativity strike - in the morning or are you a night owl?
Mornings, for sure.
4. If you were a color, what would it be and why?
Definitely purple, it has been my favorite color since I was a little girl.
Meet Theresa Guyer
1. What scrapping item describes you best and why?
Either a butterfly or flower embellishment. I just love both butterflies and flowers so much.
2. What is your favorite crafting/scrapping tool?
Hmmm, maybe my punches - I love to create things using them.
3. When does creativity strike - in the morning or are you a night owl?
Sometimes I'll have a burst of creativity during the daytime, but I think more often late at night.
4. If you were a color, what would it be and why?
I would want to be the color yellow because it is such a bright and cheery color!
There they are! Our new Hybrid Creative Team. I hope you will all join us on this creative journey where digital and paper meet in the most wonderful ways!

January's Forum Game: Jumpstart January!
It's time to kick off the new year with some fun and a focus on scrapbooking! Join us on Scrap Girls Forum for "Jumpstart January!" This is a game and challenge that focuses on taking time to scrapbook regularly despite the little "speedbumps" of life. When the month is over you'll have completed several layouts and been treated to some fun along the way.
A Welcoming Committee Member will post a task each Monday through Saturday from January 1-31. The tasks will be formatted in a LARGE PURPLE FONT for ease of locating them in the game thread as it grows. Some tasks will require message board participation, email responses or gallery posting. Read each daily task carefully to see what is required of you.
Those who complete all the required tasks and submit or post required participation by 11:59 pm (ET) January 31st will be entered in a drawing to win one of three $10 Gift Certificates to the Scrap Girls Boutique! Those who complete all the layouts will be entered in a drawing to win one of two $5 gift certificates. Each person who completes a layout will be entered – once for each completed challenge page - into a drawing for one of three $3 gift certificates.
For complete details, visit the Monthly Forum Games folder on the Scrap Girls Forum.
