It's Digital Scrapbooking Day!

It's our day to celebrate everything that is great about digital scrapbooking, and we have a lot going on today!

Pick a Favorite Layout Contest:
Do you love looking through the layouts in the Scrap Girls Gallery? Today we are having a contest that really shows off the best of digital scrapbooking. We want you to find your favorite layout in the Gallery and post a link to it on our blog. It can be your own, your friend's, or a total stranger's. On November 4th, we will pick a random winner to receive a $10 gift certificate. But, in addition, we will also award a $10 gift certificate to the creator of the winning layout and feature their layout on our Facebook page. This contest is a great way to spread your love of digital scrapbooking.

More Flip-Pal News:
On October 31, we wrapped up our contest to win a free Flip-Pal mobile scanner. To enter the contest, you had to leave a comment on our blog saying what you would do with a Flip-Pal mobile scanner. We had so many creative ideas submitted that it was nearly impossible to pick a favorite. Some of the ideas I loved included scanning:

• Antique player piano rolls
• Family Bibles with written scripts
• The menus, excursion ticket stubs, and even the carpeting from a recent cruise
• Antique collector plates
• The nameplate on a newborn's hospital crib
• Crocheted and tatted doilies
• Antique jewelry for insurance purposes
• Family recipe cards, stains and all
• Artwork to scale down and hang in a dollhouse
• Textured surfaces like stucco walls and car upholstery

And because it's Digital Scrapbooking Day, I have to mention this one...

• All my glue-and-paper scrapbook layouts from the 1990s!

So, with all these great ideas, I bet you are dying to know who won. Congratulations go out to Jennifer (Jenna) Hamilton! Jenna had about 15 great ideas of what she would use the Flip-Pal for, but the one that won her the contest was this: "I would also use it on little baby feet or hands to include with a friend or client's baby photos."   Join Theresa (teecee) for a special color challenge chat. We'll talk about color, and she will have a special color challenge for you. Hope to see you then!

• 10:30 a.m. ET - Photo Manipulation Chat
  Join Valerie (valerietuff3) and Melanie (mbc72) for a chat all about Photo Manipulation. We will talk about some of the many things you can do with your photos, from extractions and blending to styles and actions. Come along and learn some tips and have some fun as well.

• 12 Noon ET - Scraplift Challenge Chat
  Join Carla (CRS) for a Scraplift Challenge Chat. What is scraplifting and is it legal? Carla will explain the etiquette and let you know who we are going to scraplift! Hope to see you there!

• 1:30 p.m. ET – Jiffy Page Chat & Challenge
  Join Valerie (valerietuff3) and Shannon (tinkerbell11) for a chat and challenge all about Jiffy Albums and Easy Page Albums. We will also talk about the difference between PNG and PSD files and help you get some layouts done quickly.

• 3:00 p.m. ET – Double the Fun
  Do you shudder when someone mentions a two-page layout? Well, you shouldn't! Join Shannon (tinkerbell11) in the Chat Room and learn some easy and simple tips to create awesome Double Pages; no need to be scared of them. You will be creating twice as many pages in no time!

• 4:30 p.m. ET - Only in Digital
  We are celebrating Digital Scrapbook Day - so let's celebrate what we can do digitally! The paper scrappers are missing out on some cool techniques that can only be done in digi. Come join Cheri (CheriT) Theresa (tiza126) and we'll discuss techniques and give you lots of cool ideas!

• 6:00 p.m. ET – Template Chat
  Join Theresa (tiza126) for a Digital Scrapbook Day Template Chat! Templates are a great digital tool to help create your layouts. We'll discuss ways to use and manipulate templates to boost your digital scrapbooking. Hope to see you there!

• 7:30 p.m. ET - Fun Little Surprise Challenge
  Join April (April Showers) and Jody (jode2771) and we'll give you a fun little surprise challenge and some fresh ideas of ways to incorporate it into your pages. Hope to see you there.

  It's time for some speed! Join Carla (CRS) and Theresa (teecee) for the Speed Scrap Crop! We'll give you some tasks, spread out over an hour. You'll then have an hour to get it finished and posted in the Gallery! Join us for some speed!

Member of the Month: November 2012

Congratulations Jean (jenrou)! The Scrap Girls Team has chosen Jean as the Member of the Month for November! Jean will receive a $10 gift certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique and has the honor of wearing the Member of the Month blinkie!

Creative Cards Chat

High Noon Crop
Wednesday, November 7th - 12 Noon ET

Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 12 Noon ET for the High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes, simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week.

On November 7th, we'll have a Color Challenge! Create a layout using the rich warm tones of autumn.

Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!

November's Forum Game: Products Picks Game

This November, we are playing the Products Picks game where we encourage you to stroll through the aisles of the boutique and do a little window shopping.

Each Monday through Saturday in November, a member of the Welcoming Committee will post the name of one or two product designers in this Product Picks game thread. You will then head to the Scrap Girls Boutique and navigate to that particular designer's product pages. Choose any of their products (your favorite product, one you like, or one you wish you owned), then head over to the Product Picks game thread and share the product name, boutique link, and a brief explanation of why you chose that product.

At the end of the month, members who haves posted links to 41 products (one for each designer) will be entered in a drawing for one of three $10 Gift Certificates. Members who have posted links to 16-40 products will be entered in a drawing for one of two $5 Gift Certificates. And members who have posted links to 10-15 products will be entered in a drawing for one of two $3 Gift Certificates.

November Monthly Layout Contest: What are you thankful for? Have you thought about your blessing lately? For the November Layout Contest, we'd love to flood the Gallery with layouts showcasing what you are thankful for! Post your layouts in the November Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight ET on November 30th and you could one of the two people who will win a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique! Please be sure to list your layout's product credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties.

Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used. If your layout is chosen, it will be showcased as a Club Concepts layout winner, and you will win a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
