Create 3 Layouts with 1 Collection and 1 Template Fast!
Tutorial written in PS CS5 on a Mac running OS X Lion
If you are anything like me, you are very short on time but you truly wish you had more time to create layouts for your family and friends. I have found that if I limit myself to using one collection and one template, I can get three layouts done in just over an hour! Now, for extra special layouts, I will still use several collections and other digital scrapbooking products!
I have had my eye on Sarah Batdorf's My Pretty Collection Mini for quite a while and decided it would be perfect along with a template from Angie Briggs's ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Edgy 1 for my three layouts.
By choosing one template, I can decide which elements I want to use or modify to complete three different layouts.
In the first layout, I left the template pretty much as is with the exception of making the top and bottom borders a bit thinner. I also added SBA_MyPretty_PaperFlower3 embellishment under the border strips to create unique scalloped-looking borders.

After saving my first layout, I made a duplicate copy of it and closed the original. Then, I deleted all the elements I knew I would not be using for the next layout. I used the Lasso Tool and selected the photo frame on the right side of the template and the borders and deleted them. I used two different papers from Sarah's collection and added more flowers and the title "JOY." See how different the two layouts look? And it only took me a few minutes!

After saving my second layout, I made a duplicate copy as I did above and closed the original. After deleting the unwanted elements, I added two new papers, added a bird and some bees to the layout, and brought the frame on the right side back and moved it up using the Lasso Tool.

Viola! Three layouts in record time! Choosing only a few products at a time cuts down the time spent looking through all your pretty digital scrapbooking products. This leaves you more time to work on those extra special layouts where you want to use multiple products and spend a little extra time putting them together.

High Noon Crop
Wednesday, September 24th - 12 Noon EDT
Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 12 Noon ET for the High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes, simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week.
On October 24th, we will be doing a ScrapSimple challenge! Create a layout using at least one Scrap Simple product. If you haven't used them before, we'll have some great ideas for you in the chat.
Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!
October's Forum Game: Posting Contest
October is Posting Contest time on the Scrap Girls Forums! You can earn a chance to win a Scrap Girls Gift Certificate by simply being chatty in the Scrap Girls Forums and Gallery. This contest will run from October 1st when we post the thread until 11:59 p.m. (EDT) on October 31st.
To enter the Scrap Girls Forum Posting Challenge, you MUST reply in the Posting Contest Thread with your current post count. Your post count is the number under your Avatar that shows when you post. (NOTE: The number found on your profile is a different number and is calculated differently.)
During the month, post your fingers off! At midnight on October 31st, we will calculate your post count based on the numbers posted in the game thread.
PRIZES
- Those with 50-99 posts will be entered in a drawing for a $5 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate.
- Those with 100-249 posts will be entered in a drawing for a $10 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate.
- Those with 250-399 posts will be entered in a drawing for a $15 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate.
