A Dog Named Desmond
For the past two years, my youngest son has been asking for a puppy. I came up with a million reasons why that would be a bad idea, including the expensive vet bills, the fact that we live so close to the highway, and the amount of time needed to take care of a puppy. Still, he continued to ask earnestly. As a compromise, I bought him a dwarf hamster. She was adorable and fluffy and very easy to care for, and in my eyes, the perfect pet. But a perfect pet maintenance-wise is not necessarily a perfect pet heart-wise. My son wanted a pet that would run and play with him and snuggle with him at night. He wanted a dog.
Almost a year after getting our little hamster, I came across an interesting post on Facebook. A sweet lady from my childhood was trying to give away puppies. They were a Chihuahua and Shih Tzu mix, and that definitely appealed to me. We arranged a meeting, and my son was thrilled!
When we met, my friend brought two puppies; the larger was brown, chubby and fluffy, and the smaller was mostly black with a tiny body, big head, and huge ears. I knew immediately this quirky little guy was perfect for us. He stole our hearts right away. My son named him Desmond, and we took him to his new home.
Desmond is a delight. He is a constant source of amusement for us and has a cute personality. He playfully rough-houses with the boys and loves to cuddle for naps. Yes, the vet bills are fairly expensive, and we do have to keep him on a leash outside to keep him away from the road, and his care does take a lot of time. But this little critter is well worth any trouble or expense as he has added so much joy to our lives.

Favorite Product I've Designed:
Morning Mist Collection Biggie
I love the cool, fresh, relaxing feel of this collection. It seems soft to me, which makes it work well for layouts of young children but the color scheme make it appropriate for 'tween and teen girls as well.
