8.5x11 Scrap Girls Products
Article written using Photoshop Elements 9.0 with Windows Vista
Confession: I'm not much of an 8.5x11-inch scrapbooker. I prefer the classic 12x12-inch size. Why? Because that's the way I started digitally scrapbooking, and to put it simply, I'm not good at changing a method that has been working great for me!
So when I received this assignment to create a layout using 8.5x11 products, I was challenged. But once I went to the Scrap Girls Boutique and looked under the 8.5x11 category at all the products available in that size, I was blown away by ideas! Because 8.5x11 products are so printer-friendly, there are hundreds of ways you can get creative and easily utilize these fabulous products.
My first 8.5x11 scrapbooking project is going to be converting my family blog into an inexpensive, creatively designed book for my family to enjoy. The designers here at Scrap Girls have created many page templates in 8.5x11 that will make this project so much easier.
I decided to use Andrea Trump's Value Pack: ScrapSimple Digital Layout Album Templates 8.5x11 Magazine Mini collections for this project. I like the simple page designs and the variety of templates.
After looking at posts on my family's online blog, I determined which template would work best with the amount of pictures in my post along with my text. Next, I copied and pasted the pictures and journaling from my blog onto my template. This was so simple because I didn't have to look through the files on my computer for the right pictures (which can take forever, as you know!), and the journaling was already written for my blog. I loved it the ease of it all!
Finally, I finished off the layout with a collection by Amanda Fraijo-Tobin, her 8.5x11 Visionary Collection Biggie. And my first page is done! Once all my blog posts are creatively placed in ScrapSimple templates, I can decide to print them all at home and place them in a binder or take them to my local copy store and have them more professionally bound. I am more than excited to complete this project!
Here are a few more projects from my to-do list – and I'm already planning to use these Scrap Girls 8.5x11 products. I can't wait to get started on them as well:
Jacqui Smith's amazing new digi•Doer products perked my interest instantly. Her eBook, digiDoer eBook: School Year and 8.5x11 Nano Collection, teaches how easy it is to scan your memorabilia and create a printed book full of digital memories to treasure forever. She has also created a few extra products to easily assist you in accomplishing this project. Just search "digiDoer" in the Scrap Girls Boutique.
Syndee Nuckles's Presentation Digital Scrapbook 1-2-3: 8.5x11 Cookbook Biggie makes it easy to create a beautiful cookbook which you can easily print from your home computer, place in sleeve protectors, and store in a binder - perfect for any kitchen! It's also super-easy to share a family cookbook with relatives!
Angie Briggs's ScrapSimple Paper Templates: 8.5x11 Everyday Moments Planner and ScrapSimple Paper Templates: 8.5x11 Remember This are perfect for creating and printing your own unique calendar or family planner. Keep in mind, 2013 isn't too far away!
So many projects, so many choices! But first, I will continue to work on getting my family blog printed in a creative fashion.
I can't wait to see what you create with these outstanding products. Don't forget to post your pages in the Scrap Girls Gallery!

Members who complete the steps required in the game thread and post all four layouts in the Simplify September Gallery will be entered in a drawing for one of two $15.00 Scrap Girls Boutique Gift Certificates.
Each completed layout posted in the Simplify September Gallery, up to four per member, will be entered in a drawing for one of four $5.00 Scrap Girls Boutique Gift Certificates.
