Note from Debbie: Since becoming President of Scrap Girls, it's been fascinating to learn about all the pieces that come together to make the website you love. What has impressed me the most is the fantastic group of women behind the scenes who make it all happen. Their skills and talents are immeasurable and as unique as they are. Meeting them has been so enjoyable for me that I want you to get to know them better, too.
Debbie Cleek
President, Scrap Girls Inc.
I wanted to make sure that our new Boutique was launched before introducing you to Wendee, the Scrap Girls Webmaster, so that you would be able to see her skills first-hand. She is the one who designed and coded the sleek new look of our Boutique. "Functionality" was the word Wendee kept coming back to during our many discussions about the new look, and now we are all benefiting from her foresight.
Wendee's experience with the World Wide Web actually began when she was the moderator for a message board about organization. One day while poking around, she realized that she could change the look of her posts by using html (the main language used for displaying web pages). From there, she started reading and experimenting with html every chance she got and teaching herself everything she could about web development. Today, she not only designs websites and blogs as a consultant, but also teaches Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator at the community college near her home.
Wendee's involvement with Scrap Girls began as a customer. She and many of the other Scrap Girls in her area (the Wasatch Front Scrap Girls) began meeting for lunch regularly with Ro, the founder of Scrap Girls. Her goal was to become a designer for Scrap Girls. Some years after becoming friends with Ro, she started helping out with the newsletter and the website, but it wasn't long before she became the full-fledged webmaster for Scrap Girls. This allowed her to start learning new web-coding languages, solve all sorts of techy problems, and create a totally new look for our Boutique - but it hasn't helped her to free up any time to get her first designs into our store!
As well as being a web wizard, Wendee is also a happily married mother of three. In January, her oldest daughter, Aimee, passed away suddenly. Wendee holds a place in her heart for the Scrap Girls community, who helped her through this time with their kindness and support. She considers Scrap Girls her "happy purple place." When her designs are released later this year, they will be dedicated to Aimee, so she can share her daughter's spirit with all of you.
The next time you drop by the Boutique, think about Wendee – because she was thinking about you when she redesigned the Boutique!

September's Forum Game: Simplify September
This month's Scrap Girls Forum game, Simplify September, is designed to help you get more scrapbooking done with a series of simple steps that add up to a finished project at the end of each week.
Throughout September, Monday through Saturday, a team member will post a daily layout step in the Simplify September game thread; the first week has seven steps, and the remaining three weeks have six steps each. These steps will be posted in large purple font so they will be easy to spot.
Members who complete the steps required in the game thread and post all four layouts in the Simplify September Gallery will be entered in a drawing for one of two $15.00 Scrap Girls Boutique Gift Certificates.
Each completed layout posted in the Simplify September Gallery, up to four per member, will be entered in a drawing for one of four $5.00 Scrap Girls Boutique Gift Certificates.
You have until 11:59 p.m. ET on September 30, 2012, to complete the steps and post your layouts to the Simplify September Gallery.
For complete details, visit the Monthly Forum Games folder on the Scrap Girls Forum.
