Welcome to the New Boutique: Tours Begin Here!
Step right up! The tour of the new Scrap Girls Boutique begins right here, right now!
There's so much to see in the new Boutique, and we only want to take a few minutes of your time, so we're going to hit the high points. Hang on, because this is just the beginning of a great new digital scrapbooking experience for everyone!
1. Easier Viewing: Just Click to Enlarge the Product
In the old version of our store's software, you had to "hover" your mouse to see a larger version of products and layouts. Now, a simple click of your mouse gives you a big image of the product and its features, and a side window lets you click between the various images.
The first screenshot (below) shows part of a product page, its layouts, and its description. The red arrow shows where to "Click for larger image and other views."
When you click there, you'll get an enlarged version (see below) of the product images and its related layouts. You can easily "mouse over" the various layouts and images to enlarge each one. The window will stay open until you click the X in the upper right corner to close the product images window.
Another super-helpful feature in the new Boutique is the addition of the designer's name right under the product name (see below). Sometimes you have a favorite designer (or two or three…) and you'll want to collect their new items right away! Now you will be able to identify a designer's products right away, not just by searching under the "Designers" category.
2. My Account: Your Personal Organizer
We wanted the updated My Account features to really benefit you in the new Boutique, so we designed it with an easy-to-use, clickable bar with topics that will help you get all your info centralized in one easy-to-locate place.
My Account now features:
Overview (your personal data summarized)
Purchase History (the go-to place to access your previously purchased product information)
Contact Info (where to change your name, address, email, phone, etc.)
Payment and SG Bucks (your saved credit card information from previous purchases and your SG Bucks information showing the amount you've earned from your purchases)
Wish List (the place to create new Wish Lists, to look at the products you've placed on your Wish Lists, to manage your Wish List items, or to access the links/codes to send your Wish List to friends)
Log Out (you can log out here or you'll see the Log Out option at the top of every page, too)
3. Easier Downloading
The download experience is easier now because the receipt has been simplified and you can find what you need quickly. The screenshot below shows where you'll find the download code on your receipt.
But what happens if you complete your purchase and don't have time to download your digital scrapbooking products right at that moment?
Simply click on My Account (at the top of every page), then click on Purchase History to see what you've ordered in the past. Scroll to the receipt that contains the products you want to download. Click on "Download Password," which is highlighted as a clickable link in purple, and you'll go straight to the download area. In this screenshot, the red arrows are pointing to the Download Password for two different orders.
4. Improved Search Functions
We've made the search faster and more accurate, and we plan to keep improving the search capabilities in the months to come!
In the new Boutique, several ways to search are right on the home page: Categories or Designers. These two options are now permanent parts of the Boutique's front page, not drop-down menus like before:
By clicking on a designer's name, you'll automatically go to her area of the Boutique and be able to browse her products exclusively.
By clicking on one of the categories, you'll get additional choices within each category. For example, clicking on Basics, you'll get a drop-down menu with these choices: Collections & Kits, Embellishments, Papers, Alphas & Word Art, Transparencies.
Swing by the Boutique and take a few moments to familiarize yourself with what's under each category's menu so you'll have a good idea of where to find your favorite digital scrapbooking products.
Finally, the search bar at the top of the page gives you the opportunity to search by very specific criteria, such as the specific name of a product, a keyword, etc.
Now that you've taken the quick tour, jump over to the Boutique and browse around. We have thousands and thousands of digital products just waiting to inspire you in your scrapbooking journey!
P.S. Want more information about the Boutique? Check out our blog where a whole series of articles about the new Boutique have been archived. You'll find articles on Wish Lists, Scrap Girls Bucks, and more!

Doors and Windows
They say that when one door closes, another opens. But I recently heard someone amend that to say that when one door closes, sometimes we stare longingly at that closed door and we don't even notice the window that has opened right next to it.
A few months ago, when I wrote my last Designer's Life article, we had just sold our home in Missouri and were living in temporary housing for two months, in preparation for our big move to Wyoming where my husband had already been working. We had registered our kids for school there and had even made an offer on a home. But those plans all came crumbling down a few weeks later when my husband lost his job very unexpectedly.
Suddenly, we were without a plan. We no longer had a home in Missouri. We had no job there, no family there, and no other strong, compelling reason to stay there. The door to Wyoming had slammed shut on us, but we did not immediately see another door opening. After a couple of days of grieving over that slammed door, my husband and I decided to look at it from a different perspective.
Instead of looking for one particular door to open to us, we realized that the whole world was open to us. For the first time since we began our married life together, we could choose wherever we wanted to go. We knew a move was imminent, but we just had to decide where we were going to land. We started thinking, evaluating, and mostly praying to know what might be the best road for us.
Little by little, windows began to open. About a week later, we had narrowed it down to two geographic locations, and my husband and I both started looking for employment in those areas. I was offered a position in the Reno, Nevada, area, and we felt really good about that possibility. But my husband still had an interview and a job possibility in an entirely different location. With all of that, we were not 100% sure where we were going to move until the day before we picked up the moving van! We did finally make that decision - and we moved to the Reno area.
From the first day that we arrived in Reno, we have seen windows continue to open, letting in a little more light with each one. From finding an ideal rental home for our family (with a short-term lease) in an ideal location, to meeting wonderful friends from that first day, to my husband getting a job here ... each one has been a little window of additional light.
When I think back to a few months ago and realize all that has happened in such a short time, I am amazed. And I'm so grateful that we did not stand looking at that closed door for any longer than was absolutely necessary - or we may have missed the beautiful view that we have now, looking out our new windows.
