Your Wish is Granted - Our New Boutique Lets You Make Wish Lists!
You asked for it – we listened – and now you've got it! The new Scrap Girls Boutique has the long-awaited feature of Wish Lists built right in, so no more making Kaboodle lists outside of the Scrap Girls site, and no more jotting product names on a sticky note and then forgetting where the note went when the sale comes along!
Let's take a quick overview of what our new Wish List feature offers you. In our new Boutique, you can:
Create your own wish lists (yes, as many as you want) and organize those lists according to theme, type of tool, season, event, etc.
Add products to your Wish Lists with a simple mouse click.
Leave comments attached to each product in your Wish List so you can remind yourself what you want to use the product for, ideas for other coordinating products, etc.
Send a link to your Wish List to a friend so they can view yours, and likewise, you can see your friends' Wish Lists when they send you their link!
Create Your Wish List
Here are a few screenshots to walk you through how to make your Wish List.

First, look for Create a NEW Account (if you haven't already set up your account), and get your Scrap Girls account set up. After you've filled in all those blanks and saved your entries, click on My Account and then click on (#3) Wish List.
Note: If you already have an account in the old Boutique, there's no need to create a new account. Simply go to My Account (or to Log in) and enter your email address and password at the prompts.
Next, you'll arrive at this screen, and this is where you'll name your Wish List and decide if it's viewable to the public (which means those you allow to see it).

Name your Wish List (#4) – it can be anything you want! Fun, creative, technical, practical, seasonal, topical, color-based (all red items, for example) - whatever you want!
Click Yes or No (#5), depending on if you want others to see this list (when you share the link).
Click "Create this Wish List" (#6). You can now create multiple Wish Lists by repeating these steps and giving each list a new name.
Add Products to Your Wish List
Now it's time to add items to your Wish List! It's easy, and the first (and the most fun) thing is to simply start finding products in the Boutique. In other words, go "window shopping!"
When you find one, such as Elementary Days Ruler Alpha Mini, you'll see that the product pages now look like this:

The product images are at the top and middle of the page, and the Wish List box is on the right. Let's look closer at the Wish List box.

You can choose which list you want to add the product to. (Remember, you can create multiple lists based on theme, tools, seasons, events, or anything else you dream up back on your My Account> Wish List page.)
From the drop-down box, select the Wish List you want to add the product to.
Select Priority – Low, Regular, High.
Click Yes or No if you want the item removed from your Wish List after it's purchased.
Then click "Add this to my Wish List" – and you're done!
Note: If you have kept track of your product wishes in Kaboodle, you may want to transfer those items to your Scrap Girls Wish List. Unfortunately, Kaboodle does not have an export feature to their lists, so you cannot automatically transfer your Kaboodle list to your new Scrap Girls Wish List. You'll just have to add them one at a time as you search the new Scrap Girls Boutique; but on a positive note, this will allow you to move them into the specific Wish List categories that you've created so your list will be more personalized and organized than ever before!
Sharing Your Wish List with a Friend
To let someone browse your Wish List and see what kinds of goodies you have selected, go back to My Account> Wish List. Make sure your Wish List is set to Publicly Viewable> Yes.
Now, look for "Public Access Code" and locate the specific access code for your list. This will be followed by an http: link. Copy the link and the code, and then paste them into an email to your friend.

When your friend goes to the http: link, she will see this screen:
Note: Current Scrap Girls Boutique customers will need to log out of their account before trying to view a friend's Wish List.

She can put in the Public Access Code that you gave her, and she will be taken to your Wish List.
A few other notes about your Wish List:
Products are set to stay on your Wish List for one year from the date you add them. But if you want a product to stay shorter or longer, go to My Account> Wish List and adjust the month/day/year under the "Expires" category.
If you decide to delete a Wish List after it has served its purpose, look to the bottom of each Wish List (below all the products you have added) for the "Delete" command which requires you to check a box by this text: "To delete this ENTIRE Wish List, select this box and click the ‘Update Wish Lists' button." Check the box, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Update Wish Lists."
At this time, the software we use for our Boutique does not allow you to purchase items for another person from their Wish List, nor can your friend purchase items for you from your Wish List. When this capability becomes part of the software, we'll be sure to let you know in the newsletter, blog, etc.
Enjoy your new Wish List capabilities – and may all your wishes come true!
- Cindy

Using Text to Create Unique Papers
Tutorial created using Photoshop CS 6 with Windows 7
Adding text to papers can dress up a solid background paper while helping you tell the story on your digital scrapbook pages.
First, create a text box over your background paper. With your Text Tool active, just click and drag until you create a text box that covers your paper. Type the words into the text box. I used the same phrase over, so I copied it and pasted it into the text box until it was full. I added a few different phrases and words to keep certain words from stacking on top of each other and to vary which words showed when my layout was completed.

You can soften the look of the text by adjusting the opacity and blending mode of the text layer. To do this, make sure the text layer is directly over the paper layer in the Layers Palette. Change the Blending Mode to "Soft Light" and set the text layer Opacity at 60% (to get the look I used), or you can play with the blending modes and opacity until you get a look that’s right for your digital scrapbook page.

When you try out this technique on one of your next pages be sure to post your layout in the Newsletter Tutorial section of the Scrap Girls Gallery.
