President, Scrap Girls Inc.
Right after Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 3), we will be doing some maintenance to the database that runs our storefront (Boutique). This database is where all the Scrap Girls customer order histories are stored. We have been informed that after nearly eight years in business, this database has become unwieldy, and it is recommended that we take some actions to clean it up. Therefore, we will be deleting records older than June 1, 2007.
This update will affect you in several ways:
In the past, we have always been able to help you if you had a tragedy, like losing your hard drive. After this maintenance is complete, we will only be able to look back five years to help you reconstruct what you had. Therefore, if you have products purchased before June 1, 2007, we strongly encourage you to spend some time this weekend backing up your product files.
After this update is complete, you will only be able to see your order history for orders dated June 1, 2007, to the present. If you would like to keep your pre-June 1, 2007, order history, now is the time to copy/paste that history to another document or to print off any of those records. Once the maintenance is complete, Scrap Girls will have no access to these old order histories whatsoever.
Additionally, as a result of the maintenance, any products remaining in your shopping cart will be cleared. All shopping carts will be emptied. If you like to store a bunch of digital scrapbooking products in your cart to remind yourself to buy them in the future, now is the time to make a list of those products - or better yet, just go ahead and check out and bring those products home!
In case you hadn't noticed, we are running a terrific sale right now to encourage you to clear out your shopping cart and bring those great products home!
Remember, before today is over:
Scrap Girls, Etc. is a column pulling bits and pieces from all over Scrap Girls. Stay tuned as Scrap Girls' team members bring you tutorials, musings, recipes, interviews, design/software tips and tricks, layout walk-throughs, and who knows what else!
Me and My Hair
I don't know what it is with me and my hair. I wish I could tell you that I'm a keeping-current kind of gal. You know - someone who has their hair trimmed monthly and gets a new, fresh style every couple of years. Instead, I've had the same style (if we want to call it that) for most of my adult life.
My hair is very straight. It has no interest in being curled. Oh, it had some fun with me years back. I would put curlers in it and come up with a look that I was pleased to leave the house with. My hair had other ideas, though. About an hour later, you wouldn't have guessed that curlers had touched my hair. It happened every time. Sigh. In the ninth grade, I even decided to get a perm. I'd show my hair who was boss! Well, so I thought. My hairdresser was surprised at just how fast that perm "fell out."
After embracing just how straight my hair is, I moved on to other options: layers. I don't know where to place the blame for the outcome. Personally, I think it was a bad haircut. Regardless, I just couldn't take the way my hair looked and was thankful when it was long enough to be done with layers. I've been too scared to try layers again.
Over the last 20 years or so, about the only thing that changes about my hair is the length. I try to keep it a little past my shoulders. Time tends to get away from me and sometimes quite a bit of time passes between cuts. I trim the bangs myself once a month. Recently, I started noticing that my hair was getting hard to brush in the back when wet. I even enlisted family members to comb it out smooth a few times. It was also getting tangled in my clothing at times when I pulled something over my head.
I decided that I could no longer handle the length of my hair. A few days later, I went in for my hair appointment. Why, oh why, do I let so much time pass between cuts? I left there feeling lighter, refreshed, and carefree! I probably should have had it cut even shorter than I did, but I feared the shock I would feel after it being as long as it was. According to their computer, the last time I had been in was 14 months prior! Ack! In the layout below, you can see the before and after of that recent visit.
Favorite Product I've Designed:
Precious VBS Collection Biggie makes me happy. I know my children love seeing the layouts that I make about them, and they are drawn to bright, cheerful colors. This collection has a fun color palette and a subject matter that is dear to me. I enjoy our time at church and the many activities my children are involved in there. Giving them layouts of those activities has been fun for me and them.
Commercial license versions of Precious VBS (Vacation Bible School) Collection Biggie, In My Canoe Collection Super Mini, Sandbox Fun Collection and Lettering Delights Sweet Potatoes Font are also available.

This month's Scrap Girls Forum game, Simplify September, is designed to help you get more scrapbooking done with a series of simple steps that add up to a finished project at the end of each week.
Throughout September, Monday through Saturday, a team member will post a daily layout step in the Simplify September game thread; the first week has seven steps, and the remaining three weeks have six steps each. These steps will be posted in large purple font so they will be easy to spot.
Members who complete the steps required in the game thread and post all four layouts in the Simplify September Gallery will be entered in a drawing for one of two $15.00 Scrap Girls Boutique Gift Certificates.
Each completed layout posted in the Simplify September Gallery, up to four per member, will be entered in a drawing for one of four $5.00 Scrap Girls Boutique Gift Certificates.
You have until 11:59 p.m. ET on September 30, 2012, to complete the steps and post your layouts to the Simplify September Gallery.
