Move Tool Shortcuts

Are you ready for a little Move Tool magic? I hope to show you some new shortcuts that will help you streamline your scrapbooking. With the limited time we have available for our hobby, every minute counts!
First, we'll explore the Options bar up near the top of the screen. With the Move Tool selected, there should be a row of icons that will help you quickly and easily line up alphabet letters, photos, etc. Press the Shift key and hold it down while left-clicking on each object you'd like to line up. After each layer is highlighted in this manner, click on the "Align Bottom Edges" icon (or top, left, or right edges, depending on your need) in the Options bar.
Have you ever been frustrated by trying to move small embellishments? Sometimes the center circle moves instead of the object itself. I left-clicked on the object on my layout, then held down the Ctrl key while clicking outside of the object, dragging the object where I needed it to go. Holding the Ctrl key prevents the accidental selection of the larger background paper or other nearby objects.
Now, here's a quick and easy way to duplicate and move items: Hold down the Alt key while left-clicking and dragging over the object. You can Shift+click on several items and then press Alt+left-click and drag to copy and move multiple objects at once. If you need all the items to stay in the same row, hold down the Shift key along with the Alt key. As you hold the Alt key over the object, the cursor will change to a double arrow, black on white as shown.
Currently, I am in charge of the chart for the "Scrap Girls Shredders", an exercise group that checks in daily on the Scrap Girls Health Club - Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking Forum. Each participant receives a button on the chart for each day she or he exercises. If it weren't for keyboard shortcuts, I don't think anyone would volunteer to be the charter - just look at all those buttons. With Move Tool magic, it makes the daily charting a breeze!
I hope I've shown you some new, easier ways to use the Move Tool. Have fun practicing moving objects in your photo-editing program and consider joining us in the next "Shred" Challenge to get your body moving and exercising as well!

High Noon Crop
Wednesday, August 22nd - 12 Noon EDT
Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 12 Noon EDT for the High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes, simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week.
On August 22nd, we'll do a Nature Challenge! Create a layout that shows nature in some way. It could be flowers, wildlife, camping - anything that highlights nature.
Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!
ScrapSimple Club Chat

August's Forum Game: BINGO
Join us for an exciting game of August BINGO on the Scrap Girls Forum!! Pick 25 words from the list provided and send them in an email to [email protected] with a subject line that says "BINGO CARD - your Scrap Girls Forum username" by Wednesday August 1st (Midnight EDT) in order to play in the first round. The first round will begin on Thursday, August 2nd. If you miss the first round deadline, you can still play! Just send in your BINGO card at any time during the month, and you'll be eligible to begin playing when the next new round starts.
Each day (Monday through Saturday), a member of the Welcoming Committee will call five random words from the BINGO list. Match just 15 of those words to win a BINGO. You must be first to call "BINGO!" in the game thread to win that round. After a winner is called, the boards will be cleared and a new round will begin the following day.
Each winner will receive a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique! We like to see lots of winners, so please remember that each person can only win one round during the month. Have fun!
