Scrap Girls' Member of the Month - August 2012
Member Name: valerietuff3
1. What program do you use to digitally scrapbook?
I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.
2. Are you a Mac or a PC?
I am a PC, Windows 7.
3. Tell us the make and model of digital camera that you use.
It's a Panasonic FZ48. I also have an old Fujifilm point-and-shoot that I use a lot.
4. Name one thing that every beginner digital scrapbooker should know.
Don't try to do too much too soon, spend time learning what your software can do, and most importantly, have fun.
5. If you could be transformed into a digital scrapbooking embellishment, what would you choose and why?
This is a hard one. I like all sorts of embellishments for different reasons. In the end, I settled on being a ribbon. Ribbons are very versatile, can be flat, curled, tied, and they come in many colors. For me, ribbons can be the finishing piece to a layout.
6. What time of day do you find that you do your best scrapbooking?
During the day when the kids, especially Ben, are at school. Trying to do anything with my four around is almost impossible.
7. What is your favorite snack?
Marmite on toast.
8. What is your least favorite household chore?
That's got to be ironing; with six of us at home, I have a never-ending pile.
9. Finish this sentence. "I couldn't live without..."
I was going to say caffeine, but I think it's really my kids. They drive me up the wall, round the bend, and numerous other places, but I'd be nothing without them.
10. What's your current favorite layout that you've done?
This layout is not my best and will never win any contest, but it shows one special moment in our house. For me, this layout is what scrapbooking is all about: Capturing memories so we don't forget.

High Noon Crop
Wednesday, August 22nd - 12 Noon EDT
Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 12 Noon EDT for the High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes, simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week.
On August 22nd, we'll do a Nature Challenge! Create a layout that shows nature in some way. It could be flowers, wildlife, camping - anything that highlights nature.
Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!
ScrapSimple Club Chat
Friday, August 24th - 10:00 PM EDT
Join Shannon (tinkerbell11) in our Chat room for the monthly ScrapSimple Club Chat! Share our ideas to use the month's club and have some fun chatting. Post your layouts in the Scrap Girls ScrapSimple Club Members gallery, and you may win a prize if it is chosen to be featured in the Newsletter.
August's Forum Game: BINGO
Join us for an exciting game of August BINGO on the Scrap Girls Forum!! Pick 25 words from the list provided and send them in an email to [email protected] with a subject line that says "BINGO CARD - your Scrap Girls Forum username" by Wednesday August 1st (Midnight EDT) in order to play in the first round. The first round will begin on Thursday, August 2nd. If you miss the first round deadline, you can still play! Just send in your BINGO card at any time during the month, and you'll be eligible to begin playing when the next new round starts.
Each day (Monday through Saturday), a member of the Welcoming Committee will call five random words from the BINGO list. Match just 15 of those words to win a BINGO. You must be first to call "BINGO!" in the game thread to win that round. After a winner is called, the boards will be cleared and a new round will begin the following day.
Each winner will receive a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique! We like to see lots of winners, so please remember that each person can only win one round during the month. Have fun!

August Monthly Layout Contest: Summer vacation time! We'd love to see your layouts featuring your summer vacations! Have you gone on the trip of a lifetime? Or an annual trip with family or friends? Have you had a fun staycation right in your own town? We'd love to get a glimpse into how you spend your vacation and why you chose spend your time that way! Post your layouts in the August Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight EDT on August 31st and you could one of the two people who will win a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique! Please be sure to list your layout's product credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties.
