Note To Self
I write a lot. Different types of writing. Mainly to-do lists. I write menus for my family, shopping lists, blog posts, things my kids say, cards to loved ones - you name it. Whether it's handwritten or typed, I do lots of it.
One aspect of handwriting I really enjoy is writing with fountain pens. I find there's a bit of romance to writing with a fountain pen. It seems lost especially in today’s world of throw-away pens and emails. To sit down and write something with an instrument of yesteryear appeals to me. Plus, as a person who is drawn to color, being able to pick from a plethora of colored inks is so much fun! I'm pretty sure I have almost any color ink to fit my mood.
I usually have 4-5 different pens filled with different-colored inks on my desk at all times. A lot of my day-to-day writing isn't anything special - notes to myself, shopping lists - but somehow writing them with a fountain pen is just more fun! My husband certainly doesn't "get it," but my 5-year-old daughter seems to enjoy looking at what color of ink my pen is loaded with any certain day. And yes, I'm guilty of matching my ink color to my pens. Is that like matching your makeup to your shirt? Perhaps. Just another way I enjoy color in my life.

Embellishment clusters are some of my favorite things to use on layouts because they add so much detail to a layout with minimal effort. These particular clusters are nice because they are very neutral and can go with lots of different things.

High Noon Crop
Wednesday, August 1st - 12 Noon EDT
Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 12 Noon EDT for the High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes, simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week.
On August 1st, we'll do a "Push Yourself" challenge! Create a layout that really pushes your personal style - either something you've never done before, or a layout that is very much your style - just INTENSELY your style!
Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!
Creative Cards Chat
Tuesday, August 7th - 9:00 PM EDT
Do you use your digital supplies to make cards? Do you want to? Instead of going to the store every time you need a card, you can save money and have fun making cards with your digi stash! Make a note of any cards you might need for the upcoming month and join April (April Showers) for the once-a-month Card Chat on the first Tuesday of each month at 9pm ET. This month, we'll focus on how to use ScrapSimple Layout Templates to create unique greeting cards.
July's Forum Game: Spotlight on the Boutique
Each day of July (with the exception of Sundays), a member of the Welcoming Committee will post an image spotlighting a small circle of the layout you are to search for in the Scrap Girls Boutique. If the layout is not identified by the following morning, a second spotlight circle will be added to the layout; this will be repeated until the product is identified.
All you have to do to participate is search the boutique for the layout and post a link to the product page in the official game thread. Only one guess per member per day is allowed. You can find more specific details in the forum game thread.
Three $10 gift certificates to the Scrap Girls Boutique will be awarded. The winners will be randomly chosen from all the members that correctly identify a product throughout the month.

July Monthly Layout Contest: Hot! Hot! Hot! In the northern hemisphere, July is generally a month of very warm temperatures. For July's layout contest, we want you to scrap about what you do to stay cool – whether it'is in July or December. Post your layouts in the July Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight EDT on July 31st and you could one of the two people who will win a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique! Please be sure to list your layout's product credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties.
Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used. If your layout is chosen, it will be showcased as a Club Concepts layout winner, and you will win a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
