Note from Debbie: Since becoming President of Scrap Girls, it's been fascinating to learn about all the pieces that come together to make the website you love. What has impressed me the most is the fantastic group of women behind the scenes who make it all happen. Their skills and talents are immeasurable and as unique as they are. Meeting them has been so enjoyable for me that I want to spend the next few weeks letting you get to know them better, too.
Debbie Cleek
President, Scrap Girls Inc.
One of the first Scrap Girls team members I had the pleasure of meeting was Angie Briggs. In fact, Angie is the first "Scrap Girl" nearly everyone meets because Angie is the friendly voice behind the Scrap Girls customer service line. She is also the one typing away the replies you get when you send an email to [email protected].
Rozanne's introduction of Angie went something like this: "Angie knows everything...." And over the weeks that I've gotten to know her, I've realized no truer words were ever spoken.
But it's not just Angie's knowledge of scrapbooking, design, software, and computers that makes her unique. It's also her unflappable good humor. She views every phone call and email she receives as an opportunity to make another customer happy. She will patiently explain how to open a zip file to the "computer challenged" with the same plucky attitude that she uses to walk a seasoned customer through a tricky Photoshop technique. She says her favorite part about her job is helping people solve their problems, though this is also one of the toughest parts, too.
Her knowledge comes from her experience. She started with Scrap Girls as a layout artist, spent time writing for the newsletter, and is also one of our talented product designers. In addition, she has been helping our customers for so many years that she is sometimes able to recognize a phone number when it pops up on her phone or fill out an envelope without looking up a customer's address. She's also one of the only staff members who is more likely to recognize a customer by their real first and last name instead of their user name on the Scrap Girls Forum.
Angie says that the comment she hears most from customers is, "Don't you ever sleep?" To which the answer is yes. In addition, she finds the time to walk five miles every day, as well as raise her 10-year-old twin boys. She has figured out how to weave the customer phone calls and emails into her everyday routine. However, if you ever call and she doesn't answer, it means she's at her kids' ball game, in line at the grocery store, or in the basement changing out the laundry. But don't worry, if you leave a message, she'll always get right back to you!

Note from Angie: I thought my photo might need a little explanation. This photo of my son Colby and I was taken after The Color Run a few weekends ago. What is The Color Run you might ask? It is probably the best time you will ever have doing a 5K. The concept of the race is everyone starts out in plain white shirts, every mile you go through a color zone and colored powder is thrown on you. At the end of the race, you participate in a color throw with thousands of other participants. By the time you are finished with the day, you are color from head to toe. I would highly suggest checking out their website and finding out if there is a Color Run near you.

July's Forum Game: Spotlight on the Boutique
Each day of July (with the exception of Sundays), a member of the Welcoming Committee will post an image spotlighting a small circle of the layout you are to search for in the Scrap Girls Boutique. If the layout is not identified by the following morning, a second spotlight circle will be added to the layout; this will be repeated until the product is identified.
All you have to do to participate is search the boutique for the layout and post a link to the product page in the official game thread. Only one guess per member per day is allowed. You can find more specific details in the forum game thread.
Three $10 gift certificates to the Scrap Girls Boutique will be awarded. The winners will be randomly chosen from all the members that correctly identify a product throughout the month.
For complete details, visit the Monthly Forum Games folder on the Scrap Girls Forum.
July Monthly Layout Contest: Hot! Hot! Hot! In the northern hemisphere, July is generally a month of very warm temperatures. For July's layout contest, we want you to scrap about what you do to stay cool – whether it'is in July or December. Post your layouts in the July Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight EDT on July 31st and you could one of the two people who will win a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique! Please be sure to list your layout's product credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties.
Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used. If your layout is chosen, it will be showcased as a Club Concepts layout winner, and you will win a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
