A "sheet" consists of a grouping of items that will fit on an 8.5x11 document. Take care to make sure that the collection mini's color set is well balanced and that it has an idea that ties it together. It should contain enough embellishments and word art to be useful to someone who wishes to make several layouts from it. Also, take care that the embellishments are not a grouping of a small number of items that have just been re-colored. This is your opportunity to show your versatility and skill level.

4th of July Layouts
Tutorial created using Adobe Photoshop CS3 with Windows
Do you and your family have Fourth of July traditions? Or do you do something different every year?
Either way, make sure to document your memories on a Fourth of July layout. My family attends the local parade with friends. For my focal image below, I captured my 17-month-old son walking toward the parade, flanked by his oldest brother and friend. From the dry safety of a store awning, I was able to photograph the children in their raincoats, eagerly holding out their sacks for candy.
By using Ang Campbell's template from ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Lots of Shots 3, I was able to create a digital scrapbooking template quickly and easily – and focus on selecting digital papers, word art, and embellishments to complete my theme. While I could have filled in all 10 "windows" with photos, I chose to use half that many pictures and let some digital papers peek through some of the windows. This accomplished two purposes: The featured photos stand out more because there's less competition from other images, and the digital papers help establish the theme without overpowering the photos.

After the parade, we go home to recuperate for the evening activities. We used to take photos of the fireworks every year, but now that we have three children, we usually don't want to haul the tripod with us!
The boys amuse themselves with sparklers while awaiting the official fireworks display. They haven't gotten brave enough to try spelling anything with their sparklers, so I helped them out with Brush Set: Wisp Alpha Super Biggie and ScrapSimple Tools – Styles: Glow 8501 Biggie.
I'm eager to see what your family does on the Fourth of July. Get out there, take pictures, scrap them, and show me your Fourth of July layouts!

July's Forum Game: Spotlight on the Boutique
Each day of July (with the exception of Sundays), a member of the Welcoming Committee will post an image spotlighting a small circle of the layout you are to search for in the Scrap Girls Boutique. If the layout is not identified by the following morning, a second spotlight circle will be added to the layout; this will be repeated until the product is identified.
All you have to do to participate is search the boutique for the layout and post a link to the product page in the official game thread. Only one guess per member per day is allowed. You can find more specific details in the forum game thread.
Three $10 gift certificates to the Scrap Girls Boutique will be awarded. The winners will be randomly chosen from all the members that correctly identify a product throughout the month.
For complete details, visit the Monthly Forum Games folder on the Scrap Girls Forum.

July Monthly Layout Contest: Hot! Hot! Hot! In the northern hemisphere, July is generally a month of very warm temperatures.
