A "sheet" consists of a grouping of items that will fit on an 8.5x11 document. Take care to make sure that the collection mini's color set is well balanced and that it has an idea that ties it together. It should contain enough embellishments and word art to be useful to someone who wishes to make several layouts from it. Also, take care that the embellishments are not a grouping of a small number of items that have just been re-colored. This is your opportunity to show your versatility and skill level.
Examples of all of these products can be found in our Boutique.
Also, please answer the following questions in the body of your application email:
Other instructions: Save your files as 600px wide, 72 dpi. Place them in one zipped folder and forward with your application email.
DEADLINE: Friday, July 13, 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)
Notifications of results will be sent to all applicants by Friday, July 20.
If a talented person comes along whose skills are not quite what they might be, but we feel they would be a super-committed, dynamic member of our team if given a little help, we may choose to put them through an apprentice program.
We look forward to seeing your application!
How to Mix and Match Items from More Than One Digital Scrapbooking Collection
Tutorial created using Adobe Photoshop CS5 with Windows Vista
Mix and match. Sounds like a fun idea, doesn't it? You can have that kind of fun with your digital scrapbooking supplies! There's nothing wrong with making a layout with the supplies from just one collection, and there are plenty of reasons to do so. But sometimes you may need or want to use items from multiple collections to get the look you want.
I have a picture of my sons that I want to use on my digital scrapbook layout. I want to choose paper colors to coordinate with some of the colors in the picture. The main paper will be a neutral paper from Firefighter Collection Biggie - the middle paper in the screenshot below. I can use an orange paper from the same collection, but that collection does not include a blue paper. That's where the mix-and-match idea comes in! I looked through my supplies and decided that the blue paper from Mini Golf Collection Mini is what I want. You can see the orange and blue papers below.
You can mix and match your embellishments, as well. Pay close attention to the colors, however. For instance, using red items from several different collections might give you several variations of red. Some could be more pinkish, some more maroon, some more fire-engine red, etc. Of course, using red flowers from one collection and a green vine from a different collection avoids the color clash issue.
In the digital layout that I'm making, I'm going to use two sets of alphas. I know that one of them will be the duct tape set from Handy Dandy Collection Biggie. Now I have to decide another set to use with it. When you use two different alphas, think about how they contrast with each other. When I looked at the alpha from Sandbox Fun Collection Biggie next to the duct tape set, I didn't think they worked well together.
Both sets are a bit chunky. And the colors together don't give me the "pop" that I want. Let me see how the black alpha from Firefighter Collection Biggie looks.
That's better! I like the skinny alpha mixed with the chunky one. The black is a nice contrast to the grey. I'll go with this combination.
I hope you find it fun to mix and match items from more than one collection when you are making digital scrapbook layouts. The combinations you can come up with are practically endless!
