A "sheet" consists of a grouping of items that will fit on an 8.5x11 document. Take care to make sure that the collection mini's color set is well balanced and that it has an idea that ties it together. It should contain enough embellishments and word art to be useful to someone who wishes to make several layouts from it. Also, take care that the embellishments are not a grouping of a small number of items that have just been re-colored. This is your opportunity to show your versatility and skill level.
Examples of all of these products can be found in our Boutique.
Also, please answer the following questions in the body of your application email:
Other instructions: Save your files as 600px wide, 72 dpi. Place them in one zipped folder and forward with your application email.
DEADLINE: Friday, July 13, 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)
Notifications of results will be sent to all applicants by Friday, July 20.
If a talented person comes along whose skills are not quite what they might be, but we feel they would be a super-committed, dynamic member of our team if given a little help, we may choose to put them through an apprentice program.
We look forward to seeing your application!
President, Scrap Girls Inc.
Now I know what it must feel like to date over the Internet.
In May when it was clear that Rozanne Paxman, the founder and CEO of Scrap Girls, was going to be handing me the reins, she invited me down to Utah for a week of training. After I had committed to my travel arrangements, I started wondering, "What will this week be like?"
I stared at Rozanne's picture on the Scrap Girls website. Then I looked at her picture on the newsletter. Then I looked at her picture on the Scrap Girls Forum. I read her bio. I read her Facebook page. I read both her blogs. I even Googled her. I must admit I was a bit awestruck.
By the time I left for Utah, I had exchanged several emails with Ro and had talked to her once on the phone, but I still had no idea what she would be like. All I knew was that I was nervous. By the time I had made it to my hotel, it was about 9:30 p.m., but Rozanne had instructed me to come over that night. I called and was a bit surprised that she still wanted me to come even though it was getting late. She laughed and said that it would be something for me to get used to - in the Internet world, stuff happens at midnight.
A few minutes later, I arrived at her door, and there she was in person! And for some reason, it just felt natural to hug her. Then she led me into her bright blue office full of books on every possible subject, and we got right to work. For the next seven days, I sat right next to her, taking furious notes on my laptop while she stuffed my head full of information. And in the process, here is what I learned about Rozanne Paxman...
She's incredibly organized and did an amazing job of creating a system for everything that goes on behind the scenes at Scrap Girls.
As anyone who has used Ro's Scrapbook Software Secrets Revealed knows, she is a wonderful teacher. She is patient, explains things well, and instinctively knows when to slow down because it's clear you haven't quite "got it" yet.
There is no end to her talents. She knows computers and software, she is creative, she knows how to write well, she can doodle, she's a trained musician, and she's written a book. It was hard for me to fathom that one person could have done all this!
She's a life-long learner and already had a stack of new ideas to start exploring after she's kicked up her feet for a while (maybe a week tops, though, because she's not one to laze around).
She is passionate about the things that matter to her, and her love for Scrap Girls customers and team is both sincere and immense.
She drives a bright yellow car with a SCRPGRLS license plate!
Beyond this, I found her to be a caring and kind person who was invested in my success at Scrap Girls as much as I was. She gave me pep talks when I needed them, taught me her secrets to success, and told me stories about the early days, so I'd know all the important Scrap Girls history. We shared meals, chatted about every imaginable topic, and had a lot of laughs. By the end of the week, all my nervousness was gone. She had prepared me - and I felt prepared.
As I was leaving on my last day, I gave her another hug as I walked out her door for the last time. And I realized that this amazing woman who was a stranger just a little over a week ago was now someone I counted as one of my friends.
