Note from Ro: Today is weird muse day. Here is a cartoon that I recently drew. I am passionate about this one and believe thoroughly in what it says.
Retroactive and Effective Immediately
What follows is a muse I wrote in 2007. I recently discovered it again, and it made me smile. Since everyone needs a smile every now and again, I decided to show you an updated version of it.
Tired of eating the same old "blech" for dinner each night? Sick of cooking the same recipes over and over again? Annoyed that your children refuse to eat any of the delicious-looking recipes you have discovered on Pinterest? Well, never fear... I am now going to give you the perfect, permanent, once-and-for-all, forever, outstanding-beyond-belief solution for your nightly dinner dilemmas: Dinner on a Stick.
"What is Dinner on a Stick?" you say. "Is it really as good as you are claiming it to be?"
Yes, it is. Dinner on a Stick is simply the best food item on the planet. Trust me.
Would I lie to you?
No. Of course, I wouldn't lie to you.
But I know you must be fairly curious at this point about what Dinner on a Stick is – and I wouldn't blame you for your curiosity. After all, I have promised you that Dinner on a Stick will solve your difficulties with the evening meal for the rest of your life. And it will - because Dinner on a Stick is simply amazing!
My dear readers, Dinner on a Stick is beyond... beyond... well, beyond description. It is probably the most indescribable food item I have ever tried to describe. It is sooo... oh, how shall I say it... tall.
No. That's not right. Dinner on a Stick isn't particularly tall, although it might be argued that the stick used in Dinner on a Stick makes Dinner on a Stick taller than food that is short.
But, my friends, once you see Dinner on a Stick, I believe that we will all agree that tall is not a word to describe Dinner on a Stick. So how then do I describe to you - my audience - something that has never before been seen in civilized society? How do I tell you about Dinner on a Stick?
I don't know.
I'll tell you what... because I can't tell you what Dinner on a Stick actually is, I'll tell you how Dinner on a Stick was discovered.
When the founder of the Dinner on a Stick company, Ernest R. Simpson, suddenly found himself on the Island of Muncholoa (the victim of a cruise ship mishap), local natives served him Dinner on a Stick. As he ate the delicious food item, Ernest R. said to himself, "Self, I must become the founder of a company that sells Dinner on a Stick. I think I'll found that company today."
After a few weeks, the island's natives grew tired of Ernest R. begging for more Dinner on a Stick, and as they were becoming concerned about the stick supply required to make their beloved Dinner on a Stick meals being used up as they attempted to give Ernest R. all of the Dinner on a Stick that he requested, they decided that they needed to unburden themselves of their unwelcome guest once and for all.
What did they do? They built him a raft.
Knowing that the natives of Muncholoa would be furious if they caught him with extra Dinner on a Stick because they had repeatedly told him that he was the first outsider that they had shared Dinner on a Stick with, Ernest R. managed to smuggle a single portion of it off of the island in his hat.
When Ernest R. arrived back in the Americas, he immediately began experimenting with experimental ingredients until he discovered what the natives knew all along: How to make Dinner on a Stick.
Therefore, Ernest R., assured now that his fortune was assuredly assured, founded the company, Dinner on a Stick, thereby becoming the founder of the notable company that has convinced me to present Dinner on a Stick to you today, and now that you know everything there is to know about Dinner on a Stick, I am sure that you will serve your family Dinner on a Stick this very evening.
As you do, please - enjoy Dinner on a Stick. And tell your friends all about it, too. Because I don't want to.
- Ro
P.S. Please do not email Scrap Girls to ship some wonderful Dinner on a Stick to you. We can't - because I ate all of it.

Muse: To be absorbed in one's thoughts; engage in meditation. Not intended to solve the world's problems, another person's problems, or to cover topics completely. May's Forum Game: Boutique Alphabet Game!
The Boutique Alphabet Game is back! Do you remember playing the game "I am going on a _____ hunt and bringing..." where each player listed items starting with a specific letter? We are playing a similar game on the Scrap Girls Forum during the month of May. Each day except Sundays, a team member will post a new theme and starting letter in the game thread. Members then will search the Scrap Girls Boutique for a product that fits the theme and post it in the game thread. Entries are to follow the alphabet starting with the letter posted with the theme each day. Only one product per letter per round will be counted and products may not be used more than once. Collections and their individual parts count as one product. Time stamps will be used to determine credit in the case of duplicate letter or product posts. There is a limit of three game posts per person each day and another player must post before posting again. Member names will be added to a drawing based on the number of qualified product links posted in the thread.
Prizes will be awarded at the end of the month and winners will be announced in the June 9th Newsletter. Gift certificates will be awarded as follows: $15 SG Gift Certificate for first place, $10 SG Gift Certificate for second place and a $5 SG Gift Certificate for third place.
For complete details, visit the Monthly Forum Games folder on the Scrap Girls Forum.
May Monthly Layout Contest: May is a big month in the northern hemisphere for flowers. For this month's layout contest, we're going to give a little twist on the usual flower photos. We want you to try your hand at extreme close-ups. Be creative in point of view and angle. Even most point-and-shoot cameras have a close-up mode. Do the best you can with the equipment you have and scrap a layout with a photo or two – or three. Your submission will be judged on its merit as a layout, not necessarily the photography. Post your layouts in the May Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight MDT on May 31st. Be sure to list your layout's product credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties. Two layouts will be selected to win a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used. If your layout is chosen, it will be showcased as a Club Concepts layout winner, and you will win a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
