Adding Color and Texture to ScrapSimple WordArt
Tutorial created using Adobe Photoshop CS3 with Windows XP
Customizing ScrapSimple Word Art to coordinate with your page takes only a few simple steps! I like to begin by entirely creating my layout and using the grayscale version of the word art for placement purposes.
Then, we can go in and add some color and texture to the word art that coordinates and pulls the page together! We are going to change the color and add texture to this word art title in one step. Begin by opening a background paper that is the texture and color that you desire and drag the word art onto the paper.
NOTE: If the color is not quite the right tone, it can be adjusted by selecting Image> Adjust> Hue/Saturation or Image> Adjust> Color Balance.
Using the Magic Wand Tool, select the black L. Then go to Select> Similar to select rest of the black letters. Then click onto the green background layer (on the Layers Palette) and perform a copy and paste. This will create a new layer with a green version of the word "Live!" Then, on the Layers Palette, click and drag the new green version of "Live!" above the grayscale version.
Repeat the same steps as above to change the gray version of "Live!" to yellow.
I chose to leave the "Live like you mean it" layers in gray because of all the gray tones in the photos. But feel free to adjust the colors and textures as you choose. By double-clicking on the each of the layers, one at a time, we can add some drop shadows and inner shadows to add dimension. I added drop shadows to both "Live!" layers and an inner shadow to the "Live like you mean it" layer.

Creative Cards Chat

East Coast High Noon Crop
Wednesday, May 2nd - 10:00AM MDT
Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 10am MT for the East Coast High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes, simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week.
On May 2nd, we'll do a Stripes Challenge. Create a layout on any theme, any topic and any colors using stripes! The stripes can be from paper, paper strips or in your photo. It is up to you.
Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!
April's Forum Game: BINGO!
Join us for an exciting game of Springtime BINGO on the Message Board Forum in April! Pick 25 words from the list provided in the forum game thread and send them in an email to games@scrapgirls.com with a subject line that says "BINGO CARD - your Scrap Girls Message Board username" by Tuesday, April 3rd at Midnight MDT in order to play in the first round. The first round will begin on Wednesday, April 4th. If you miss the first round deadline, you can still play! Just send in your BINGO card at any time during the month, and you'll be eligible to begin playing when the next new round starts.
Each day, a member of the Welcoming Committee will call five random words from the BINGO list. Match just 15 of those words to win a BINGO. You must be first to call "BINGO!" in the game thread to win that round. After a winner is called, the boards will be cleared and a new round will begin the following day.
Each winner will receive a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique! We like to see lots of winners, so please remember that each person can only win one round during the month. Have fun!

April Monthly Layout Contest: Life is full of surprises! Here in the United States, we have April Fools' Day on April 1st. Have you ever been surprised by someone playing an April Fools' joke on you? Or, you can scrap about another surprise that has happened in your life. You don't have to have photos. It could be a journaling page. Post your layouts in the April Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight MDT on April 30th. Be sure to list your layout's product credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties. Two layouts will be selected to win a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery.
