Vintage papers combined with ink splats, rusted metals, and heritage inspired word art round out this digital scrapbooking collection. Great for heritage or Mother's Day projects. Includes a Collection Mini, Paper Super Mini, and an Embellishment Cluster Mini.
With these editable digital scrapbooking type paths, you can add a little flair to your journaling and photo displays. Each of the nine ScrapSimple Type Path designs has two text paths and two shape layers. PSD and PNG files supplied.
Add these great digital scrapbooking shadows to realistic embellishments to add depth. These work perfectly with Syndee's ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Room With a View, ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates: Wall Decor and ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Interiors. The first two products listed below are included in this month's ScrapSimple Club offering. Members receive a substantial discount on these club supplies. They are also available elsewhere in the Boutique at regular prices for those individuals who would rather not join a club.
These grungy digital scrapbooking brushes are designed to blend perfectly with the papers in the Via Dolorosa Collection Mini, yet are versatile enough for use with other collections. Use them to blend your photos or other papers into your backgrounds, or use them as accents.

Ro is Looking for Your Advice on This One!

I have had a sleep disorder since at least 1988. Without the help of a sleep medication, I am unable to drift down into Stage 4 sleep on my own. Since all of the body's muscles and systems rebuild during Stage 4, it is critical that I arrive there each night. If I don't get the proper type of sleep (and enough of it), I suffer negative physical and psychological consequences. In other words, I get sick.
There is a brief period of time between the moment I swallow the tiny white pill that sends me off to this important dreamless sleep and the moment when that blessed sleep arrives. I have learned over the years that because I never know for sure when my dark sleep will hit me, there are things I should never, ever do once the tiny white pill has passed my teeth.
My “Do Not Do This” Rules
Never go on the Internet. Sometimes, I can't remember what I have said or done during my sleep-waiting period. It is both embarrassing and frightening to learn that I have said-done-posted something online or in an email that I normally wouldn't have said-done-posted because sleep medication alters your judgment.
Don't wander around the house. Sometimes, sleep hits me so quickly that I don't have time to get myself to a better sleeping spot. Since the thought of falling asleep with my head in the refrigerator is slightly unnerving, I take care to stay in my bedroom. That way, the worst thing that happens is that I fall asleep in my bedroom chair, on my bedroom floor, or while reading a book in bed.
Because I so often land in the wrong place, my husband has a habit of checking on me when he comes home from work (he works late). Many a night he has taken my iPad... or a book... or a pen and my journal from my hands. Many a night he has lifted me off the floor and tucked me into bed. Many a night, he has taken glasses off my head and pried the remote control out of my hand so that he could turn off the TV. Many a night he has gently kissed my cheek and whispered that he loves me as he turns off the light.
What a guy.
Never, ever, ever drive a car. (See #1 and #2.) Duh.
Don't talk on the telephone. If I discover that I spoke to someone on the telephone during this critical time period, it's probably best that I call them and explain what happened the next day. It is certain that I have said or promised something that I normally wouldn't have said or promised, and if they happened to speak to me immediately prior to my falling asleep, chances are fairly high that I sounded slightly inebriated during the conversation. Explaining what happened helps everyone feel a little better.
This item is more likely to occur upon the unfortunate occasions when I have accidentally taken my night pills in the morning. We have processes around here that attempt to prevent me from making this particular mistake, but it does happen from time to time. (SG Designer Melissa Renfro is still laughing about a phone conversation I had with her one morning. At least, I think she is laughing....)
I can do these things while I wait to go to sleep:
Read. The only potential danger in this activity is that I will fall asleep with my reading material in my hand with the light still on. This is why reading my iPad prior to sleep has become my go-to solution. When the iPad is left unattended for a period of time, it turns out its own light.
Watch TV. If I choose to watch TV, I have to be careful to choose programs that I'd normally find a little boring. Political shows, news casts, and mystery series don't work well because they tend to key me up and that interferes with my medication's ability to work.
Write and draw in my journal. My journal is full of half-finished muses, letters to God with thoughts that have drifted off and down the page, and brilliant ideas that will never be recovered because my "I'm about to fall asleep" handwriting includes letters that are too squished together to untangle.
However, my journal is also covered with lovely doodles that twirl about the pages with abandon. Unlike my daytime doodles, they are free, unfettered by concerns of what someone might think of them. Unlike my daytime doodles, they are creative, fun, and sometimes messy. Unlike my daytime doodles, they are unconcerned about what they are. They are simply in love with dancing across the page in any form that my relaxed hand creates them, speaking in puns, and trying to come up with deep, meaningful thoughts that can be expressed in one sentence.
The alter-ego woman-in-a-polo-shirt cartoon character you see so often in the newsletter was developed during these late-night doodling sessions. Most of the good, witty, thought-provoking cartoons you see were also drawn during these late-night doodling sessions.
The other night, as I happily doodled in my journal while waiting to feel sleepy enough to get into bed, it occurred to me that my life would be far more enjoyable and productive if I could learn to live it in the same relaxed manner that I felt right then.
It was such a lovely thought I decided to write it down in big, block letters so that I would remember it (and be able to read it) the next day:
LIVE RELAXED WITHOUT HAVING TO TAKE A SLEEPING PILL TO GET RELAXED. FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THIS TOMORROW.
Now, if I could just do that. Do you have any suggestions for me? I'd truly love to hear them because I often spend my days wound up as tight as the rubber band knots I used to get in my hair while swimming as a child.
You can send your suggestions to me at [email protected].
Thanks!
- Ro

April's Forum Game: BINGO!
Join us for an exciting game of Springtime BINGO on the Message Board Forum in April! Pick 25 words from the list provided in the forum game thread and send them in an email to [email protected] with a subject line that says "BINGO CARD - your Scrap Girls Message Board username" by Tuesday, April 3rd at Midnight MDT in order to play in the first round. The first round will begin on Wednesday, April 4th. If you miss the first round deadline, you can still play! Just send in your BINGO card at any time during the month, and you'll be eligible to begin playing when the next new round starts.
Each day, a member of the Welcoming Committee will call five random words from the BINGO list. Match just 15 of those words to win a BINGO. You must be first to call "BINGO!" in the game thread to win that round. After a winner is called, the boards will be cleared and a new round will begin the following day.
Each winner will receive a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique! We like to see lots of winners, so please remember that each person can only win one round during the month. Have fun!
For complete details, visit the Monthly Message Board Games folder on the Scrap Girls Forum.
