Where Are You in Your Layouts?

For me, digital scrapbooking encompasses many purposes. Here are some of my top reasons:
I would like to document specific events for my family.
I would like to reveal family history for my kids by getting those heritage photos out of the box and onto a layout.
I would like my pages to reflect the character of my kids and family.
I like to create to unwind from busy days.
And I would like my family to know a little about me.
As the family memory-keeper, how many of us have realized that we are poorly represented in our scrapbook pages? I know that I am the one behind the camera most often, resulting in my regular absence in my layouts. Even if you don't have many pictures of yourself, there are ways that you can portray yourself on your layouts. Making a layout about your favorite things would be a great way to let your family know about some of the little things that are important to you.
Using one of the ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates is one way to prompt your thinking. Start by listing ten of your favorite things, as the template suggests. Then, dig a little deeper and refine your list. Then, dig deeper still. This exercise can be thought-provoking - and difficult! Take your time and reflect as you create your list.
As moms, we get so busy with the day-to-day requirements, and the little things could easily get lost and forgotten - or not shared in the first place. Now go back to your list and add some adjectives. How do they change the feel of your list? Do they reveal even more about you? What senses are you calling on when you remember your favorite things? Your list will reveal simple little things that will be meaningful one day to your family. As I read my list, I am realizing its depth. How about you?
Even if you don't have a picture of yourself that you want to scrap, don't let that stop you from making a layout about yourself! Choose a photo of a favorite landscape, flower, or piece of urban artwork. You could select a photo which has strong graphic, artistic lines or a use of light and shadow. Whatever it is, whatever speaks of you and to you, use it to combine with your list of favorite things that you just created.
You will have a beautiful, thoughtful piece of yourself to share with your family. And they will thank you.

April's Forum Game: BINGO!
Join us for an exciting game of Springtime BINGO on the Message Board Forum in April! Pick 25 words from the list provided in the forum game thread and send them in an email to [email protected] with a subject line that says "BINGO CARD - your Scrap Girls Message Board username" by Tuesday, April 3rd at Midnight MDT in order to play in the first round. The first round will begin on Wednesday, April 4th. If you miss the first round deadline, you can still play! Just send in your BINGO card at any time during the month, and you'll be eligible to begin playing when the next new round starts.
Each day, a member of the Welcoming Committee will call five random words from the BINGO list. Match just 15 of those words to win a BINGO. You must be first to call "BINGO!" in the game thread to win that round. After a winner is called, the boards will be cleared and a new round will begin the following day.
Each winner will receive a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique! We like to see lots of winners, so please remember that each person can only win one round during the month. Have fun!

April Monthly Layout Contest: Life is full of surprises! Here in the United States, we have April Fools' Day on April 1st. Have you ever been surprised by someone playing an April Fools' joke on you? Or, you can scrap about another surprise that has happened in your life. You don't have to have photos. It could be a journaling page. Post your layouts in the April Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight MDT on April 30th. Be sure to list your layout's product credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties. Two layouts will be selected to win a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used. If your layout is chosen, it will be showcased as a Club Concepts layout winner, and you will win a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
