The Perfect Timing
About four years ago, my husband lost his job as a professor at the university where we live in Missouri. Since that time, he has worked a handful of temporary and contract jobs, interspersed with periods of unemployment.
Last October, he applied for a job as a clinician at a treatment facility for troubled youth in Northern Wyoming. It was amazing how things flowed from the moment he applied for the job. He had a phone interview about a week later that he felt went very well. Then, he received a job offer about a week after that. He accepted their offer the third week of October and left for Wyoming two days later.
One part of the job offer that was an answer to prayer was that they offered him room and board for as long as he needed it (until our house sold and we could move out there). One major obstacle that we were still facing was the fact that he needed to get a license to practice in the state of Wyoming. He applied for a license, and then we had to sit back and wait. They initially told us that it would be about 1-3 weeks until we heard back.
So, the week after my husband started this new job, we called a realtor and listed our house for sale once again. When I met with the realtor, I told him his job was to sell the house as fast as possible, whatever the price needed to be, so that we could move and be together as a family. We made a big price reduction and attempted to sell our house during a very difficult time (Thanksgiving and Christmas). There were lots of showings, but no offers.
Since the kids got almost two weeks off from school for Christmas, and my husband only got the two Mondays after the holidays (Christmas and New Year's), I decided we would drive out to Wyoming to be with him for Christmas, provided we could find a place to stay that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Turns out a family from the church where Mark was attending was leaving town for a month (the husband and wife both work at the college in town and got a lot of time off). They offered to let us to stay in their house the whole time. Another blessing and answer to prayers. It was wonderful to be there and to meet several of the families who have been so welcoming to my husband during his stay. Our girls hit it off with some other girls and claim they have already made "best friends."
Meanwhile, all this time was passing and still no word on the license. It had been two months now.
We got back to Missouri in time for the kids to start school again in January. Our realtor kicked it into high gear and started holding Open Houses every weekend. We dropped the price another $5,000 just to bring it to the forefront of listings again.
Then it happened.
My husband got an email on Monday, Jan. 23, that his license had been approved. Yeah! So excited! Now we knew the job in Wyoming was a sure thing, and we just needed to be patient and wait for our house to sell.
Less than 24 hours later, I got a call from our realtor that we had an offer. We negotiated for a couple days and arrived at an agreement.
For almost four years (off and on), we have been trying to sell our house. But the time wasn't right. In retrospect, I realize that if our house had sold prior to that day, we really didn't have a solid place to go. We would live with family... or we would move to a new place, and my husband would try to start a counseling business... or whatever. But nothing concrete. No permanent and stable job to support our family. Until Jan. 23rd. And then the offer on the house came the very next day. Really, it's amazing. The timing of everything... from the job offer, to the licensing, to the offer on our home... perfect timing.
So, we are staring at the end of this trial... this chapter in our lives that has been like nothing else I have ever been through and hope to never go through again. There are still a few things that need to happen to make it all work, but I'm faithful that the Lord is in control and whatever is supposed to happen will come to pass.
In just a few short months, we'll be off to new adventures! I'm excited to find out what they might be.

What are Value Packs?
One of the questions I get asked many time by customers who are just starting to do digital scrapbooking is, “How can I grow my stash of scrapbooking supplies, but not break my budget?” The first thing I always ask is, “Have you checked out our Value Pack section?”
First, let me start off by showing you how to find the Value Pack section. If you go to the Boutique and click on the category drop-down list that's on the left side, you'll see "Value Packs" right under "Special Deals."
Once you have clicked on that, all of our Value Packs will now show up on the screen. So, what is a Value Pack, you may be asking? A Value Pack is group of similar items from one designer, packaged together at a lower price than if you were to purchase them separately.
We have a wide variety of these packs such as Value Pack: 8.5x11 Photo Books...
This is a set of three different 8.5x11-inch ScrapSimple Digital Layout Album Templates. This is a perfect way to put together those year-in-review albums. You can also find the 12x12-inch version of this book here.
You can also find collections grouped together in Value Packs such as Value Pack: Memories of Pink...
...and Value Pack: Everyday Moments.
We also have specialty packs that include items such as styles, brushes, and ScrapSimple templates such as Value Pack: Fold and Curl.
So, the next time you're shopping, check out the Value Pack section - if you haven't already!
Commercial license versions of Value Pack: 8.5x11 Photo Books are also available.
