Quick and Easy Thanksgiving Place Cards

It's Thanksgiving week in the United States, and with this holiday comes a special emphasis on gratitude... and eating! Friends and families gather together, often traveling great distances to spend time with the people they love and appreciate. Traditionally, a Thanksgiving feast is shared, and blessings are counted. In my family when I was growing up, we went around the table and each person in attendance took a moment to share what they were most grateful for. Many families have similar traditions. Today, I wanted to share two very simple digital scrapbooking ideas you can use for incorporating a similar tradition into your Thanksgiving gathering by using simple place cards at the dinner table.
If you want to encourage your guests to share the things they're thankful for, here's a fun and simple place card idea. Using the ScrapSimple Craft Template: Gratitude Turkey, prepare enough feathers for each dinner guest to have one feather (or more, depending on the size of your dinner group) waiting for them on their plate. The easiest way to prepare and print multiple feathers at once is to use the Feather Sheet PNG file that comes in your download. Simply open the Feather Sheet and then drag a digital scrapbooking paper of your choice onto your work area. Make sure that it is layered above the Feather Sheet in the Layers Palette. Create a clipping mask (Alt+Ctrl+G) to clip the paper to the feathers, and you're ready to print five feathers at one time!
Place one feather (or more!) on each guest's plate and have plenty of pens available for writing down the things each guest is thankful for.
Then assemble the Gratitude Turkey using all the guests' feathers. Perch him on a window or wall in the home for everyone to see the many, many blessings for which your family and friends are grateful!
While we usually focus on our blessings and recount them by saying "I'm thankful for..." or "I'm grateful for...." It seems we rarely take the opportunity at Thanksgiving time to actually say "Thank you for...." I thought a fun way to directly thank people in attendance at the meal would be to create simple thank-you cards as place cards for the dinner table. Using Assemble Your Own: Little Love Notes and a few holiday or seasonal embellishments, you can create a beautiful little place card for your guests with a personalized thank-you note on each.

These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week. On November 23rd, we'll do a Flower Challenge. You can use photos of flowers that are in bloom, use a floral paper, or embellish your page with lots of beautiful flowers. It is up to you! Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! November Message Board Game: Thankfulness Game!
It's time to give thanks for all the large and small blessings in our life! Each day during November, with the exception of Sundays, a member of the Welcoming Committee will post the name of an item for which we are thankful in the official game thread. To participate in the game, you will search the Scrap Girls Boutique and Gallery for layouts including that item, and then post a link to either the product or gallery page in the game thread.
Each member who links to a Boutique product layout will be entered into a drawing for one of three $3 Gift Certificates. Each member who links to a gallery layout (and leaves love on the layout) will be entered in a drawing for one of five $5 Gift Certificates!
