Sending Layouts for Printing
You've created what seems like a million layouts, and while it's fun to share them via email or online galleries, wouldn't it be great to have them printed to place in scrapbooks or frame and display on the wall?
Fortunately, we are living in the digital age! Many great places have popped up which allow us to print our layouts and projects for a reasonable price. Most of the companies that offer this service have their own specifications on how they want your files sent to them.
Here are a few companies offering printing services:
Costco
http://shop.costco.com/
If you are fortunate enough to have a Costco nearby, you can send in your layouts for printing online and then go pick them up sometimes in as little as an hour! (This will vary from store to store.) They offer both 8x8-inch and 12x12-inch scrapbook-sized prints. There is a shipping charge if you have them shipped to you, so you can save some money if you pick them up yourself.
Prices:
12x12: $2.99
8x8: $1.49
Persnickety Prints
http://persnicketyprints.com/
This company specializes in printing digital scrapbooking pages, so they are definitely worth checking out! They have an easy-to-navigate site which is a big plus.
Prices:
12x12: $1.99
10x10: $1.89
8x8: $.99
8.5x11: $1.89
They also print all other popular photo sizes. They have a flat rate shipping of $5.00 per order, no matter how much you buy in the US and Canada, and an international flat rate of $10.00.
Shutterfly
http://www.shutterfly.com/
Shutterfly makes it easy by allowing you to simply upload your layout, drag and drop it onto their blank page layout, and then order. Their prices are higher, around $6.99 per page, but the prices go down the more you order.
Scrapbooks to Share
http://sbtoshare.com/
This site offers not only printing of your scrapbook pages, but duplication services, scanning, backup, and more. I personally have not ordered from them, but they offer a sample kit which includes your image printed on glossy or matte cardstock. You just pay the shipping, so that might be a good way to see the quality and turn-around time of your order. They require the plug-in, Microsoft Silver Light (free), and it does works with Apple Safari.
Prices:
12x12: $1.50
8x8: $1.00
There are quite a few other companies that offer scrapbook page printing, so I would encourage you to ask around and see if anyone you know has ordered from them before you place an order.
With the holidays around the corner, wouldn't this be a great gift idea for family and friends?!
Happy Printing!

Confessions of a Scrap Addict
Note: Tutorial created using Adobe Photoshop CS5 and a Mac
Do you find yourself rushing to the computer, even before your morning cup of coffee, to check the Scrap Girls Newsletter? Or do you find that the top of your to-do list includes photos to scrap today, while cleaning the house falls at the bottom? Does your camera accompany you wherever you go? Do you recognize a crack in the pavement or a weathered strip of wood as a possible object to create a brush? Do you invest in computer equipment, software programs, and scrapbooking products instead of a trip to Hawaii? Well, join the thousands of others, like me, who have fallen into the captivating world of digital scrapbooking.
Why do you suppose we are so compulsive? I believe it’s because scrapbooking brings us joy like nothing else. We escape into our own world while providing a moment for us to really enjoy our family memories. Scrapbooking can be an incredibly creative outlet, an expression of oneself and a source of relaxation. And remember, indulging in a piece of chocolate now and then can only heighten the pleasure.
This article would not be complete if one Scrap Addict did not share a tip with another Scrap Addict. In the layout below, notice how the camera is emphasized while my face is blurred. When taking a photo, the sharpness of an object can be controlled by aperture and focal distance. The same effect can also be achieved by using just a few steps in Photoshop.
This simple technique draws the eye to the subject matter and you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on an elaborate camera and lens to achieve the same depth of field results. Experiment and have fun!

What's New in the Scrap Girls Boutique Chat
Friday, November 18th - 9:00AM MST
Join April (April Showers) and Theresa (teecee) at 9am MT on Friday mornings to chat about all the wonderful new products in the Scrap Girls Boutique! What are your favorite new items? Is your shopping basket full? What did you kaboodle? Have you already done layouts or other projects with your new goodies? Come tell the designers how much you love their work! Swap Crop Chat
Saturday, November 19th - 6:00PM MST
It's time for the Swap Crop Chat with Lei (Bride) and Carla (CRS)! We've done the swapping and created the layouts; now it's time to chat about all the gorgeous layouts! I don't know what it is, but these swaps bring out the best in everyone. This is the time to chat about the theme, the beautiful layouts and learn about the swap crop if you haven't participated before. We'll brainstorm a theme for next month, too! If you haven't done so, you can check out past swaps in the Swap Crop Gallery!
Calendar Chat
Monday, November 21st - 1:00PM MST
Have you thought about making a calendar for your family and friends, but just don't know where to start? Are you hoping you'll finish the one you've started in time to get it out to everyone? Are you just curious about the process? Do you need ideas on printing or binding your finished pages? Join Shannon (tinkerbell11) and Debbie (B&K Mom) for the Calendar Chat at 1pm MT for some encouragement, helpful hints and lots of laughter. Bring your questions, suggestions, and any pages you've already completed. We'll bring the chocolate!
Quote Challenge & Chat
Monday, November 21st - 7:00PM MST
Come join Pat (PBarnes) for the Quote Challenge Crop at 7pm MT. Including a quote on your layout can be a touching and meaningful addition, especially if you use the quote to create your own word art. Here's how it will work. Early on Monday, Pat will post a thread on the Chat section of the board giving you the quote that you will use to make your own word art. It's not hard, and she will have a layout with a Word Art example in the gallery. Then we'll meet in the chat room to have fun, chat, and create our Word Art layout! Everyone can participate and create a layout, even if you can't make the chat. Hope to see you there!
November Message Board Game: Thankfulness Game!
It's time to give thanks for all the large and small blessings in our life! Each day during November, with the exception of Sundays, a member of the Welcoming Committee will post the name of an item for which we are thankful in the official game thread. To participate in the game, you will search the Scrap Girls Boutique and Gallery for layouts including that item, and then post a link to either the product or gallery page in the game thread.
Each member who links to a Boutique product layout will be entered into a drawing for one of three $3 Gift Certificates. Each member who links to a gallery layout (and leaves love on the layout) will be entered in a drawing for one of five $5 Gift Certificates!
For complete details, visit the Monthly Message Board Games folder on the Scrap Girls Forum.
November Monthly Layout Contest: This November, let's be a tourist in your own town! Show us around and tell us what makes the area you live in so special! Why do you live there? You can scrap about your town, city, county, or state. Share those layouts in the November Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight MST on November 30th. Be sure to list your credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties. Two layouts will be selected to win a $10 Gift Card to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used. If your layout is chosen, it will be showcased as a Club Concepts layout winner, and you will win a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
