What Will You Think of Next?
He: I love you.
She: Why do you love me?
He: Because... I just love you.
She: No... I'm serious. What, exactly, do you love about me?
He: Because I never know what you're going to think of next.
She: Why should you? I never know what I'm going to think until I think it!
Muse: To be absorbed in one's thoughts; engage in meditation. Not intended to solve the world's problems, another person's problems, or to cover topics completely. One does not have to agree with musings to enjoy them, just as one does not have to be the same as someone else to appreciate who they are.
Would you like to earn a $20 Gift Certificate? Send your own muse to [email protected]. If it is selected for publication in the Scrap Girls newsletter, you'll get to have fun shopping!

Using Trim on a Layout
Note: Tutorial created using Photoshop CS4 on Windows XP
Using trims like ribbons, strings, lace, pearls, and sequins that might usually be associated with sewing projects can really dress up your digital scrapbooking pages.
When I started paper scrapbooking in 2001, trim was one of the first embellishments I added to my pages. I loved using ribbon, rick-rack, braid, lace, and fibers to define edges and set off journaling. When I switched to digital scrapbooking in 2006, it became even easier to use trim on my layouts.
With digital trims, you don't have to worry about how to keep the edges from fraying or raveling. You can even distress the edges to make the digital trims look frayed. Here I've used the Eraser Tool to distress the clean-cut edge of the yellow lace.
Using lace or ribbon to accentuate a border is one of my favorite ways to use trim. In this layout, the vertical trims lead the eye to the photo. The curved beading draws the eye to the faces of my daughter and son-in-law, while the horizontal lines of the lace and rick-rack trims then guide the viewer to the quote.
Try using these techniques as ways to dress-up your pages and guide the viewer's eye to important parts of your pages through the strategic use of trim.
